Great mission, horrible management

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Washington, DC

I have been working at AACAP

ProsGreat Mission
Colleagues are generally fantastic to work with
Benefits are decent enough

ConsThe turnover is horrible and there's no cross training so when someone leaves they take a lot information with them. Upper Management has an "us vs. them mentality" and does not want input from "lower" employees. Staff is not trusted (even with the most basic knowledge) so Directors hoard information that's vital for staff to do their job.

Terrible management style

Manager (Former Employee)
Washington, DC

I worked at AACAP full-time for more than 3 years

ProsIf not in a Director's position, some very hard working people.

ConsToxic environment; no opportunities for growth ; worst management I have ever worked for.
Low salaries

Advice to Senior ManagementStop using your power to threaten your team, acknowledge their hard work, instead of putting the down, so you can lower their salary, but increase yours.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Not A Good Place To Work

Specialist (Former Employee)
Washington, DC

I worked at AACAP full-time for less than a year

ProsReally? I can't think of one thing.

ConsCulture from the top down. The ED is just a figure head & the staff is just bitter and mean. There aren't any SOP's in place and they refuse to implement any. The turnover rate is extremely high. Not recommended unless you have very low self esteem and can't do any better.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a clue and some real management training.

Don't work at AACAP.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Washington, DC

I have been working at AACAP

ProsThe mission is great.
The staff are mostly nice people.

ConsHorrible turnover.
Senior management needs to go.
No respect for staff--assume the worst of people.
Big culture divide. Senior management (top 3) can do anything. Rest of staff are considered "not a loss" when they leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet a new executive director! Extremely outdated thinking. Unprofessional approach. Waste of money on stupid stuff but not enough on important things like salary and professional development.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
