I have been working at ABB Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good pay for the area, but with all the overtime, for a salary person, it pretty closely equates to "would you liked o supersize that for an extra $.99?"

    Cons

Minimal training, lots of overtime for hourly and salary alike, including Saturday's.

I have been working at ABB Group full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

There is work to be done and a lot of it.

    Cons

"Safety first" and "good saftey practices" at abb don't mean what you would think. Instead of being overly thorough with applying saftey and training, you receive little to no training, are restricted to most areas, aren't allowed to operate or perform most tasks and are scolded for changes to the norm you may have as routine. This is a company that has had several bad lick with safety issues so it's higher ups strangle production and stop producing in some cases to reduce risk at a lower cost than implementing saftey protocol.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't restrict engineering with saftey to the point where you box someone in. Saftey should be at the forefront of design and evaluated through out the process, but should never be a hurdle to impede development where the only option is to go toward less safe means to bypass restricted safer ones.

I have been working at ABB Group (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good people, but need training.

    Cons

Comments are specific to the Houston office: Lack of work processes and quality system prevent personnel from successfully performing their jobs. Little to no oversight exists and management fails to acknowledge or own the problems. For example, when a former director tried to establish a PMO to resolve problems with a large international project, he was let go from his position.
Employee turnover is high, especially within the PM ranks - mostly driven by dissatisfaction with upper management's failure to act.
