I have been working at ABM Industries (more than an year)

    Pros

Benefits, co-workers, accessibility, free parking, not much more else to say. The tips are nice if you can get some.

    Cons

Very poor upper management. Managers make supervisors do all the work. The top executives don't check on employees. They switch managers a lot due to favoritism

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees equally, pay attention to all employees, don't assume all managers are handling their business

I have been working at ABM Industries full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

This is the largest facility company in the world with over 100,000 employees. A company that you can feel like you are a part of instead of a number! 401k, ESPP, and great health insurance.

    Cons

I would like to see more chances of promotion of current employees that has the experience and the know how, rather someone else from the exterior, that must acquire the ABM way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay more attention to the workers by providing across the board medical insurance, even subsidiaries that has been acquired. Our company was purchased in 06/2011, and I have low turn over rate. Most of my employees don't have medical insurance, they have something that is called a medical plan(secondary)

I have been working at ABM Industries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

flexible hours, a lot of good people who work hard, get to work at many of the top companies in the area as a service vendor

    Cons

most of upper management could care less about employees, and in a service industry, that is not the right approach. lack of development for employees seeking to move up, extreme work loads and no support staff, local manager does not think it is his job to care about employees, very little teamwork, so big that most employees are just a number, and are treated as such...easily replaceable and not valued

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

understand that your employees MAKE the company... it is managements job to encourage, support, train, develop provide a safe work place to, provide appropriate monetary compensation to and genuinely CARE about the employees, from the newly hired janitor to middle management and office personnel... it takes all of us to make it a good team, not just the sales and revenue generators.

    Pros

Very easy work for the job, surrounded by nice staff at my level. Did promote from within when possible, which was 2 times in 2 years.

    Cons

Extremely low pay. Often taken for granted by upper management, and once risen to certain level no growth available because each location had no contact with others.

I have been working at ABM Industries full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits and pay. Some teams can work from home.

    Cons

No direction from management. Their priorities are all over the place from switching platform at the drop of a hat, to having everyone travel for no good reason.
Personal finance projects (Having to raise 10 million dollars for some personal project) and initiatives are discussed in vendor meetings.
Inappropriate treatment of employees (Embarrass and intimidate).
All of the smart people have left already leaving us to work the craziest hours imaginable.
We have many system outages because of lack of leadership and planning.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Upper management is Useless.
