I have been working at ABM Industries full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great place to work, budgetary cuts forced a layoff. There was a great opportunity for growth as an account manager, to direct the Biomedical Engineering program. There was much opportunity for growth and direction.

    Cons

Great place to work, budgetary cuts forced a layoff. The downside of the opportunity was that historically there was not as much support from regional direction as needed. Sometimes, there are some business associates (nursing leaders) that require additional support, senior representation, and direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For senior ABM leadership - the investment in my position would have taken some time to realize the cost benefit, and there was a huge quality component to my work. Cutting salaries for immediate gain is not a strategic way to do business. Much of this business is about quality. Thanks!

    Pros

It was fun sometimes, it was usually quiet, you were usually alone, management usually didn't come to the contracted property.

    Cons

Payroll messed up a lot and didn't seem to care in the slightest about you, management didn't seem to know anything about the contracted property or what was going on there, none of the management cared.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Check up on contracted properties at least once a month, speak with property clients at least once a month and talk to the employees put on that property about what is going on, treat your employees with respect.

    Pros

This is a great company to work for. Contract was lost only due to a former company coming back with a much lower bid. ABM treat their employees like the matter. Working for a contract company was not a good experience with the other company I worked for but ABM changed my opinion. They care about customer satisfaction also. My employees always felt appreciated when working for ABM & I felt the same way.

    Cons

Not a lot to complain about with ABM. I just wished their contract could of lasted longer.

    I worked at ABM Industries

    Pros

They're pretty organized, and I didn't have to hunt them down for w-2 or anything like that. It's a fair janitor job.

    Cons

They often leave you by yourself to figure things out for yourself. There is a lot of conflict amongst management. And it's a janitor job.

    I worked at ABM Industries

    Pros

    Great opportunity to network.

    Cons

Management is not there to help you in situations when needed. Lots of room to grow, but when the higher ups are threatened their jobs are at risk, they'll do anything in their power to get rid of you. There's a lot of favoritism in the company for their own family members

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Support your managers and listen to them. They're the ones operating the buildings. They know what's going on, NOT YOU!!!
