    Pros

Competent managers/directors are allowed to run their team without micromanagement from ABM managers. The benefits are great if you happen to be lucky enough to have benefits offered to you. Corporate teams (i.e. Houston, Atlanta) are responsive to employee issues/requests.

    Cons

Branch level operation's team are nearly ineffective. Many requests take months to be completed and some are never fulfilled. Staffing is a nightmare; site level managers/directors are left to fend for themselves and then penalized for doing everything they can to get contractual hours covered. Branch forgets about you unless there is a problem which may lose them an account. Opportunities are not attainable if you are connected to a large contract and keeping the client happen.

    Advice to Management

Remember the ABM employees; not just the contract. Get the branch and regional folks in sync with the rest of the company. Security division needs to get on board with One ABM. Tell the branch and local HR teams to Stop recycling poor performing employees. They are just juggling liabilities around and creating new problems for the business especially account retention.

    Pros

Post assignment was ok. Loggin in truck drivers and vistors. Lost account. I only worked there 10 months

    Cons

No pay rate increase,No advancement opportunities, totally unorganized management. No overtime hours

    Advice to Management

How do you expect to keep good people. Pay your employees better pay. Or at least more hours. Would you support your family with the type of income you are paying your employees.I have been with the company 7years i had never seen a pay increase.Or a advancement opportunity. I wont miss the company . I had to work a 2nd job for 2 and a half years to support my family. Its sad when you commit 7 years of hard work and deication and hard work. And there is no reward incentives. The management is
terrible employees learn of changes in post
orders and shift changes. Not good communication.

    Pros

    It's a paycheck
most sites 24hours so shift options

    Cons

Branch management tells you what you want to hear,
little to no room for advancement
Paid per contract no incentive to work hard, paid the same wage as the guys that have been found sleeping on site.
promotions if any go to supervisors friends not based on skill or work ethic
At times you deal with aggressive drunks and people who wish to do you harm and they gave you a cell phone.
Health benefits are a joke- pay a lot out and not much on plan is covered... pretty much its there so I don't get taxed by the government

    Advice to Management

    >Step up for your people
    > give incentives for those that do the job and work hard
    > Offer better benefits

    Pros

Lot's of time to contemplate finding a new job. No one looking over your shoulder, because there is no one else. Lot's of overtime, not by choice.

    Cons

Low pay, poor benefits, no vacation in your first year on the job (which lets face it, at $8.50 an hour how many employees can possibly last over a year). If someone does get a vacation you will most likely be forced into working every shift they are gone as well as your own.

    Advice to Management

change your vacation/(non-existent) sick pay policies. Cross train employees for different sites so that if someone does leave, or just go on vacation the 2-3 other employees at that site don't have to suffer.

    Pros

    In-house Premonitions, uniform supplies, vacations

    Cons

Operations Managers treat subordinates with a parole officer type attitude focusing on catching them in wrongful acts more than proper training, perks, or personal growth. Operations Managers, place aspiring site managers in positions the Operations Managers know as doomed for the site managers. Then, the site managers receive little to no support of their management in the form of roper training, perks, or personal growth. Instead they receive verbal abuse, ultimatums, and a six month position life expectancy.

    Advice to Management

Consider a more ethical approach to leadership vise a parole officer type attitude focusing on catching those lead in wrongful acts. balance strict discipline with subordinate moral support, proper training, perks, and subordinate personal growth. The payoff for Management will include highly trained, ethical, and positively motivated subordinates, resulting in higher client retention and increased profitability.
