Hard working company that will work you hard and material is bland due to nature of business. However, great culture.

Not a great place to start

    Analyst (Former Employee)

ProsGreat upper management: partners are enthusiastic, friendly, and inspire you to work hard.

Excellent employees: nearly every colleague is willing to assist others, and all are genuinely good people.

Exposure to some of the best private fund advisors, with great networking opportunities within compliance

    Competitive pay for experienced hires.

ConsHigh turnover among analysts, due to poor initial pay/benefits package, inflexible hours, and poor mid-level management and supervision.

Unwilling to invest in young talent: does not pay for anything beyond salary, even if required to complete or improve the work you are doing (industry journals, work-related technology and hardware, parking pass). Salary makes it impossible to live comfortably in NYC.

"Young company" mentality: though this creates a non-bureaucratic management structure, it comes at the expense of internal organization.

Upper management often stresses values that are not reflected by supervisors.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay attention to analysts, as they are the cheapest to keep happy and are generally ambitious and willing to work.

Great place to have a career

    Analyst (Current Employee)
    Morristown, NJ

ProsThe culture makes this firm a great place to work. Very much a team environment. New ideas are encouraged and rewarded. ACA has a broad client base, and analysts work directly with partners, senior management, consultants and their peers. ACA offers a career for those looking for continual learning. They has a clear line of progression for growth in the firm and compensation is very competitive. All around great firm.

ConsThe material is not always easy to learn. Requires effort and personal drive to achieve success.

Advice to Senior ManagementStay true to the core values the firm was founded on and keep hiring people that will continue to make this firm progress in the right direction.

Great place to launch your career

    Compliance Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsACA provides employees with a great work life balance and tremendous opportunities to pursue personal interests. ACA is full of motivated and hardworking individuals.

Regulatory compliance consulting is a growing field. Everyday on the job, you are exposed to something new.

ConsYou must be willing to take the initiative to learn certain material outside of the office. That being said, ACA employees serve as great resources for new employees.

    Industry Standard for Compliance

    Compliance Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsThe firm has the most employees with direct regulatory experience from the SEC, FINRA, and more. The ability to learn from these people and be able to tout that regulatory insight is a big deal. Considering the nature of our work, ACA is very flexible about time off, where you work from, etc. Management definitely encourages a work life balance. The most positive aspect of ACA though is the company culture. You're looking at a firm that embodies the work hard, play hard mentality. In this day and age, how many firms are still recognizing employees for 5 years of tenure (with gifts!), each promotion, and hosting mid-year corporate retreats, as well as, corporate holiday retreats?

ConsThe nature of the consulting work requires about 50%+ of travel. The analyst track is currently tiered for a specific base salary every year of the 3 year track plus bonuses. In terms of financial services/consulting industry salary, it is not as competitive. However, the goal really is to complete the program and become a consultant, where the bonuses and rewards are truly unlimited.

    It is just okay

    Compliance Analyst (Former Employee)

    ProsGood people
    Good connections to the industry
    Flexible work hours

    ConsUnclear expectations
Not consistent with feedback from supervisors or management
Little follow through with internal initiatives
    Overall, poor communication internally

Advice to Senior ManagementMore internal structure needed. Expectations should be clearly communicated for new employees. HR manager needed to help employees with internal conflicts.
