    Pros

Great colleagues! Nice and smart! Make you feel being part of families. Some former colleagues become lifetime friend

    Cons

Many Hiring managers do not really know how to interview people and how to manage the team. They need to be trained on human resources for non HR manager. Hr department need more knowledge in HR global practice.

I have been working at ACCION International as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Great connections to partners and organizations ACCION works with. Interns are fully immersed into office life and culture as well as the engaging work from Day One which can be both exhilarating and exhausting but in a positive way. Lots of workshops and seminars to be a part of and plenty of opportunities to represent the organization in DC. Great for a Masters candidate or recipient in terms of exposure. I was giving lots of responsibility up front.

    Cons

Depending on the team you are on and whether the team is concentrated in DC or dispersed elsewhere (Boston, globally). This makes a significant difference in the degree of connectedness an intern experiences working for a specific department and in the level of interaction with the team. I found it an unrewarding experience overall particularly considering that my manager traveled so much I hardly had any supervision or feedback or interaction of any kind on a regular basis. It meant a lot of doing work and then having to re-do it to meet new expectations. Glad to have made the connections, but wasn't thrilling overall.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Intervals of feedback and interaction with supervisors would go a long way for the learning process!

I worked at ACCION International as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Very flat organizational structure. Very easy to talk to higher ups. Even as an intern, I was allowed to take on projects

    Cons

None that I can really think of. Personally, not something I could see myself doing for a career, but I can see how it could be fulfilling for others

I have been working at ACCION International full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Organizational culture is great -- hard working, dedicated to the mission, great professional development and career growth opportunities. Accion is a complex organization with lots of opportunity to learn about the microfinance space.

    Cons

Some lack of communication between upper management and staff as well as at all levels between departments. Not a huge con, but the amount of time that it will take to learn about the organization, its various programs, and where your work fits will likely take longer than at many other organizations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to focus on opening communication channels between mc/oc and the rest of the organization and provide more opportunities to engage with each other.

    Pros

This was my first job within the nonprofit sector not long after graduating college. Everyone was very competent and I learned a lot from my time there.

    Cons

I left the company to relocate however I wish there were more opportunities for career growth. If presented with an opportunity to work here you would be wise to take it.

I have been working at ACCION International

    Pros

They have a great benefits package and a lot of flexibility to designate your own schedule.

    Cons

The hypocrisy is unbelievable, promoting of the mission and values with so many managers who display a complete lack of respect or passion for the true mission of the organization. There is also not any room for growth.

I worked at ACCION International as a contractor

    Pros

Everyone is very committed to the social purpose of the organization. Hard-working and dedicated colleagues, with whom you can develop close relationships. Potential for learning opportunities if you are a self-starter.

    Cons

Not a lot of opportunities for advancement. Not always enough direction from management. Need to invest in better management training-- appears to be hit or miss depending on department.
