I have been working at ACCO Brands full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Nice people, culture is good most times when lay offs are not happenning.

    Cons

Very male dominated on the Acco side of the company. Very few women and diverse leaders who can motivate the young professionals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To stop the decline in your industry you need to change your culture. To change the culture you need to hire diverse talent and promote them. This includes minorities and women. This will foster better communication and open to more ideas.

I have been working at ACCO Brands full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They have Great sales floor with some under appreciated employees. Very easy to take days off of work. You have all the tools needed for the job .Very challenging job but if successful can do very well.

    Cons

Selling a Dying product line with GBC. Many people don't bind and those that do can buy the products from any of their competitors for a lesser price. Micro manages everything and everyone on the floor into submission

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat all employees the same, if you are not one of the managers favorites you are ignored.

I have been working at ACCO Brands

    Pros

They have a pretty flexible work schedule, fair pay, as well as a laid back and fun environment for working

    Cons

The process for internal hires who are waiting to hear about possible new positions is very slow and often seems as though it's being avoided.

  6.

Great place to build experience if you're willing to take the risk of being laid off.

I have been working at ACCO Brands full-time

    Pros

Awesome work-life balance and flexibility. Teamwork and collaboration valued across the organization. Decent benefits and pay. Modern workplace and environment.

    Cons

Office Products is in a state of decline which translates to annual layoffs. Unless you are in good standing with someone in the executive level management, be prepared to be blacklisted on the next round of layoffs. If you are lucky enough to survive each and every layoff, be prepared to have a title and job function change annually. Company is definitely in the state of survival mode rather than growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value employees that truly contribute to making a difference to the company's image and bottom-line by appropriately rewarding those individuals. Stop with the favoritism non-sense, you will end up losing your top talents!

    Pros

Benefits are better than most companies.

    Cons

Spin off from Fortune Brands and merger with GBC destroyed al that was good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Longtime employees give what short time management can't, stability. Is management enjoying the Kemper Lakes golf course?

I worked at ACCO Brands as an intern

    Pros

My manager was excellent and really helped prepare me for life inside and outside of the office. Office space is nice and compensation is generous.

    Cons

Poor executive communication. Layoffs and firings were poorly communicated and created unease and tension throughout the entire office.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promotions should be assigned to those who deserve them.. not necessarily to those with seniority.

I have been working at ACCO Brands

    Pros

Lots of opportunity to learn as new projects are imposed on you without background or check if skills are in place. Great people

    Cons

Cuts is the standard and learning to make do with little resources

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider your workforce and the value they bring instead of always cutting.

I worked at ACCO Brands full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good people and some interesting projects for self-motivated individuals. The offices in the Kemper location are very nice.

    Cons

Mature industry, no growth - so the only way to make money is through acquisition and subsequent downsizing. Expect new layoffs every six months. Mid level projects and goals will change mid-stream every six months as well due to the described environment - which leads to a great deal of employee frustration.

I have been working at ACCO Brands full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

An empowered workforce, with not much micro-managing. A great group of people to work with. Good teamwork, good culture. An amazing range of talent across both white and blue collar jobs.

    Cons

We produce paper based office planning products. A declining market means a declining workforce. It can be difficult to maintain a good work/life balance with the workload that results. Restructuring has been painful for all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep looking for new ways to help people improve their work/life balance, and keep working to keep communication open.
