Pros – Benefits are better than most companies.
Cons – Spin off from Fortune Brands and merger with GBC destroyed al that was good.
Advice to Senior Management – Longtime employees give what short time management can't, stability. Is management enjoying the Kemper Lakes golf course?
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
Pros – My manager was excellent and really helped prepare me for life inside and outside of the office. Office space is nice and compensation is generous.
Cons – Poor executive communication. Layoffs and firings were poorly communicated and created unease and tension throughout the entire office.
Advice to Senior Management – Promotions should be assigned to those who deserve them.. not necessarily to those with seniority.

Pros – Lots of opportunity to learn as new projects are imposed on you without background or check if skills are in place. Great people
Cons – Cuts is the standard and learning to make do with little resources
Advice to Senior Management – Consider your workforce and the value they bring instead of always cutting.

Pros – Good people and some interesting projects for self-motivated individuals. The offices in the Kemper location are very nice.
Cons – Mature industry, no growth - so the only way to make money is through acquisition and subsequent downsizing. Expect new layoffs every six months. Mid level projects and goals will change mid-stream every six months as well due to the described environment - which leads to a great deal of employee frustration.

Pros – An empowered workforce, with not much micro-managing. A great group of people to work with. Good teamwork, good culture. An amazing range of talent across both white and blue collar jobs.
Cons – We produce paper based office planning products. A declining market means a declining workforce. It can be difficult to maintain a good work/life balance with the workload that results. Restructuring has been painful for all.
Advice to Senior Management – Keep looking for new ways to help people improve their work/life balance, and keep working to keep communication open.
Pros – Strong legacy people who know the business and care about it deeply
Cons – Knee jerk reaction to results
No customer focus
Upper management not engaged or willing to understand the business
Advice to Senior Management – Look for ways to invest in growth rather than cut to meet lower results and therefore "chase the business down"
Pros – Good office culture, everyone works together well, diverse workforce, treat interns well, lots of teamwork. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming, great environment. Really enjoy the work I'm doing. Seems like a great place to begin a career.
Cons – There are a lot of layoffs through the transition of the acquisition of MWV to ACCO. There are a lot of things up in the air, and people seem to not know what is going on. Company morale is kind of low.
Advice to Senior Management – Be more intentional about communicating to the lower employees.

Consultants have been empowered by Sr. Management to treat employees poorly
Have to always be on the look out for lay off news. (who stays back in the company is purely based on who you know and network with in Sr. Management)
HR is there is to support the company and not employee centric
Bonus is something you will never receive in full as it is based on company performance (Ask for bonus payouts in the last 10 years)
Pros – I learned a great deal from various positions I held. Exposure to numerous facets of the business both internal and external helped me to grow and obtain knowledge I previously did not possess. The people employed there are an asset and great to work with.
Cons – The economy has hit the office products industry hard. ACCO has been one to experience such a down turn.
Advice to Senior Management – Do not lose sight of the core values that made ACCO. Changes also offer opportunity to reinvent yourself within the marketplace.
