Pros
Large company so good opportunity for progression. Good offices in London and work life balance not too bad so hard work encouraged.
Cons
Some structural changes in the last year or so have lead to some challenges but will probably settle down once kinks have been ironed out.
Advice to Senior Management
Standardise globally. There seem to be a lot of teams doing their own thing throughout the organisation when advantages could be gained with synergies.
Pros
Hip and fun! They have very interesting D&D and their team building session (usually Bowling within Telemarketing Department once per year) is generally very well organised & fun. Although they have listed office dress code, most wear very casual dress/clothings throughout the weekdays.
Cons
Poor remuneration/salary scheme, commission is very pathetic... Telemarketers (in Singapore branch) generally are very poorly paid and they are not entitled for performance & year-end bonus.
Communciations between departments are generally bad and there is no sense of unity. Everyone wants to have a say in the company but they are almost avoiding responsibility when questioned.
They keep hiring new staff but they do not care to groom talented individuals from the bottom.
Last but not least, the work load is very punishing.
Advice to Senior Management
Please reward all Corporate Sales Agent & Telemarketers handsomely or else company will lose talented sales person to other rival companies. Do hire QC people who are certified with insurance certificates and who are experienced in sales to ensure fair evaluations of each call. There should be a proper channel opened so that telemarketers are encouraged to give feedbacks.
Managements shall always apply the five basic principles from Sun Sze (Art of War): Mission, Method, Leadership, Terrain & Climate to handle staffs and businesses alike.
Pros
The job provided for a reasonably nice environment- nice people, okay pay. Hours were also very reasonable, especially for New York.
Cons
Very little professional development, little opportunity for advancement, very little vision from management. Unsurprisingly, there is hiigh turnover among most positions.
Advice to Senior Management
See cons: work on professional development, community building, career advancement opportunities, try to craft a clearer vision statement, professionalize risk management.
Pros
Salaries, bonus and stock options are fair, good people, first class technology is available, team work is employed and is effective.
Cons
Senior management is sometimes not aware of the paper war that Sarbane/Oxley legislation affects the working underwriter. Too much paperwork.
Advice to Senior Management
Give the line underwriters less of a workload if you are going to insist on so much CYA. Too much authority given to too few people.
Pros
Location and opportunity to advance career. There are a few talented people there but the rest are too busy playing politics to do anything worthwhile.
Cons
Politics, so much in fighting between groups
Advice to Senior Management
Treat ALL employees equally, not just the ones willing to...
