    Take me with you please....

    Vice President (Former Employee)
    Omaha, NE

ProsACI has some of the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the payments industry. The benefits are competitive and there is a good work/life balance at the company.

ConsToo much beauracracy and internal focus. No one is empowered to do their job or make decisions. Sales reps are glorified paper pushers. Development sets their own targets, delivers nothing on time, and then points to process when things are delayed (a process they put in place). Tons of turnover in Sr. Mgmt as the targets become more unattainable. No regard for customer relationships or driving a trusted partner relationship. Everything moves at the glacial speed and there is no innovation, thought leadership, or pride in quality. All is focused on process, policy, and C.Y.A. Caustic environment with a ton of negativity.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmpower your people to do what they do best and what they were hired to do. Process is killing your ability to deliver quality solutions in a rapidly changing payments world. Stop drinking your own cool-aid and get in front of your clients with some true thought leadership and innovation.

It has been a good experience overall. I had a more enjoyable work environment the first years, though.

    Software Engineer (Current Employee)

ConsContinue change in management styles and culture may be a stressful over time.

    Fear and Loathing

    Project Manager (Former Employee)
    Omaha, NE

    ProsSalaries decent for the areas.

ConsUpper and middle management use fear of being labelled "redundant" to keep worker bees inline. If you put in less than 50 hours a week despite the 40 hour salary, management thinks you're a slacker. Honesty and integrity are not viewed as positive qualities. Don't trust anyone. It will come back to bite you.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop lying to each other and playing feudal politics. You're just chasing the good people away.

Great experience, interesting work, not so hot these days

    Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee)
    Omaha, NE

ProsTechnology leader, at least used to be.
    Global reach
Challenging work, can be a fun place to work.
    Decent benefits

    ConsLimited opportunities for career advancement
Turning into a bureaucratic, micromanaged mess
High pressure and stress, little reward
    No training
    Constant change

Advice to Senior ManagementNeed to listen to employees, instead of being all top-communication.
Need to provide training for employees.
Need to become a much more agile organization, and not try to micromanage projects.

Used to be great, now it's below average.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Omaha, NE

ProsThe benefits and time off are good. Peers work as a team and want to do the best they can do.

ConsThe new management team does not know the business, and counter many recommendations made by those who know our customers and have been in the business for years.

Customer projects are so far behind schedule that we sacrifice product for customer projects. We need to do both!

Advice to Senior ManagementStop pushing everyone so hard and fast. We can't produce quality product and meet our customer's expectations. Get more product out the door faster so customers see the value in staying with us.

Great at first, but slowly decining in quality. Now average.

    Senior Software Engineer (Former Employee)
    Omaha, NE

ProsFlexible hours, casual work environment, cafeteria, gym on site.
Had a great boss who gave me a lot of autonomy.

ConsBecoming more bureaucratic. Many jobs are becoming more specialized. They are still struggling with how to manage the software development process, which as a software development firm you would expect to have mastered.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt appears that Mr. Heasley is more concerned with running the stock than he is with running the company. He also seems to be bringing in his old friends, who may or may not know how to run a software company. So, focus on running the company. Bring in experts on how to manage a software development company. Also, the payments expertise is located in the US, so do the development in the US.

Once a wonderful place to work, not anymore

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Omaha, NE

ProsVery flexible time off, flexible daily work schedule, ability to telecommute, front-line employees are extremely friendly and helpful. ACI is a great place to gather the experience necessary to successfully land your next job.

ConsACI has become a haven for senior management flunkies many of whom come from FDR. I've watched over the years the hire/fire cycle prevalent at FDR and now see that practice part of ACI culture. Senior management is not only out of touch with employees, they are also woefully out of touch with ACI products and the complexity of those products. Their primary focus no longer has company interests at heart but are now in the game for self advancement and gain, unconcerned with the havoc left in their wake. And the havoc is extensive. Management is largely ungrateful for the daily sacrifices required of employees due to management's horrific decisions, decisions largely based on nothing more than the latest book they've read or google search they've run.

Advice to Senior ManagementListen to the employees and their ideas. Done presume you know more than the workers in the trenches. It's in the trenches that all the work is done.
