I have been working at ACO Hardware full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Flexible schedule with every other weekend off.

    Cons

Transfers and locations are very different with totally different expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To many communications that are incorrect, need revision and it seems like the office people put this stuff out for their own job security. So many meetings with so much valuable information that never makes its way to the stores. Then there is the good old boy network that still needs to be addressed. There are so many talented educated and dedicated individuals that are overlooked for their contributions. Regular reviews are not done and this needs to be a priority.

I have been working at ACO Hardware for more than 8 years

    Pros

Customer assistance is big, and you get to learn about your regular customers. You get to make them smile and help them with their projects.

    Cons

Well, no matter where you work there will always be favoritism, but here its all the time. Their is flirting with upper management to regular employees and then they can never do any wrong.

I worked at ACO Hardware part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The people are amazing, and the schedule is flexible. I gained real life experience and knowledge

    Cons

The pay is minimum and takes a long time to get a raise. They were on a pay freeze for the almost 4 years I worked there. There were some physically intensive work days as well, which was hard to do knowing I was only making minimum wage.

I have been working at ACO Hardware part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work tasks are fully explained, you know what is expected of you. Managers are willing to work with your personal schedule, work schedule is made out several weeks in advance.

    Cons

Store management isn't realistic in what can be done in a particular time frame, and are very degrading about work.

I have been working at ACO Hardware

    Pros

Everything used to be OK until there was no longer a focus on their employees or the customer and only on the bottom line.

    Cons

Finance and HR divisions along with building service group are driving the company into the ground. This company will not be around for much longer

I have been working at ACO Hardware full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Very excited about the ACE Hardware partnership. The President and GMM didn't know that the name on the building said hardware. Glad they're gone and people at ACE will have a say in the company direction. A terrible last 5 years with those people in charge.

    Cons

Not anymore. Very glad of the changes. Will be happy to see my old customers come back instead of the Frank's Nursery cherry pickers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at ACO Hardware full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Paycheck was on time and benefits were ok

    Cons

Managers were required to unload trucks. Not what I signed up for. Merchandise selection was poor at best. The word "hardware "should be eliminated from their title. Cheap and outdated food, not fit for human consumption. Buyers and merchandisers are clueless. Business plan and are non existent

I have been working at ACO Hardware full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    -Generally flexible schedule
    -Small crew to manage/work with
    -Discount

    Cons

    -Poor Quality Merchandise
    -Wrong Assortment
    -Constant out of stocks
    -Little chance of advancement
-No raises for the past 6 years
    -Underpaid, & overworked

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Maybe if you didn't buy such stupid merchandise for a hardware store like undewear, dishes, luggage, wicker storage, furntiture, trampolines, food, we could actually have saved some of the closing stores and be able to actually pay a competitive wage again.

Granted, a bunch of this stuff is getting transfered to the closing stores, but we all know they'll buy the same stuff with the cash they are freeing up in stead of making sure we have what our customers actually need in the store.
