    Wonderful company to work for

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat work environment. I love the religious background of why ACTS was started. The company has true values and cares for the workers and residents.

ConsThe pay is not very high because it is a non-profit organization. They do not pay the hourly staff very well.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay hourly staff better

    Horrible Management

    Director of Maintenance (Current Employee)
    Media, PA

ProsGreat residents, excellent staff, good food, great location.

ConsFacility is very dirty, the fees are very expensive, The leadership is lacking and it shows when you walk into the facility. The Director in charge of the facility does not care about the employees and has run the place into the ground in a matter of 5 years.

Advice to Senior ManagementReplace the senior manager in charge of the facility.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

The people at ACTS are extraordinary; they are committed to our residents as well as to each other

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsAt the community level, ACTS is a family-like atmosphere. There is a lot of longevity since folks love their work and know they are making a difference in the lives of our residents. Employee to employee, there is genuine interest and care. ACTS mission of loving-kindness is lived out among the employees and residents alike. In addition, the medical benefits are competitive.

ConsAt the corporate office there is dysfunction at the executive leadership level, which is not uncommon in corporate America. The executive leaders have lost their ability to relate respectfully to those within their care. They are concerned first and foremost about themselves in every regard. They are not visible leaders who take the time to walk around the building, getting to know the employees. They are not assertively engaged in encouraging, appreciating and supporting the employees. They do not live out their own mission of loving-kindness. In this economy, employees are afraid to speak what they really feel. The "Top 100 Places to Work" survey results are therefore inaccurate.

    Great part time job

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGood hours while you are in school or college. It's fun getting to know the residents. They let you make your own schedule where I worked, and they offered scholarships for students when I was there. I got to meet lots of different people. They treat their employees well.

ConsThe pay could've been better, but it was ok for me.

Good Part-Time high school/college job with no potential for growth.

    Captain (Current Employee)
    Columbus, NC

ProsGreat for high school or college students.
    Can work with your schedule.
Coworkers can be fun to work with.
    Reliable pay.
Interacting with the residents can be fun.

    ConsTerrible management.
Interacting with the residents can be stressful and frustrating.
There seems to be an image that this job is the greatest job in the world, in the eyes of management.
    No room for growth.
Bias from management toward different workers.
No matter how hard you work, even doing multiple peoples work, it means nothing unless you are a favorite.

Advice to Senior ManagementEvaluate management more often by allowing anonymous employee reviews.
Evaluate the effective use of budget from management. (Being constantly under budget isn't necessarily a good thing if it hurts the quality of the output.)
Take suggestions of employees for improvements or ideas to better the individual communities.
Put more career development opportunities in place.
There needs to be more reward, or recognition, for employees who have been with the company for long term.
