Pros
Great benefits, patient trainers, opportunity to make mistakes and learn from them to grow, supportive environment, those who are determined get a chance to move up.
Cons
Stupid rule of tiered raises and staying in a position for a number of months before being promoted or applying for something else. Just realized that the position I left is now posted for almost ten thousand more than what I was making when I left. Reason being I came from within rather than a brand new employee. Think very hard about this point when applying. Bottomline is you get paid MORE valued MORE when you have LESS years with the company. Does that make sense to you? With that being said, I still won't ever go back to the Payroll Consultant because it constantly puts you on a leash (you lose adherence percentage when stepping away to go to the bathroom). I would however love to go back to ADP but this time I won't be underpaid!
Advice to Senior Management
If someone is great at their job, allow them to move up within ADP. Not say no to applying for another position and lose them to another company. If ADP had allowed me to post to another position, I would not have left after having 26 weeks of training invested in me.
Pros
Lots of opportunity for job and skill growth. Lots of support to ensure I am spending my time selling instead of dealing with the minusha. Commission plan is strong.
Cons
keeping a healthy balance between internal meetings and time to sell.
Pros
Great benefts, and work life balance. Remote work and homeshored employees. Cafeteria, Gym, and Medical office on site!
Cons
Some what slow to adopt new methodologies and staff can be bogged down in processes verses overall delivery
Advice to Senior Management
Continue with the strategy of new technologies and methods for development. Overall still a fantastic company to work for!
Pros
Great work-life balance. Great team environment. Nice incentives for job well-done. Once tenure is gained it's hard to leave ADP because it becomes very comfortable to work there.
Cons
Compensation is average and promotion opportunities are hard to come by and can be very political. Lots of levels of management.
Advice to Senior Management
When in management you are expected to be a role model and there are several managers, especially in sales, that don't display leadership.
Pros
Great incentive plan with no cap on what you can earn.
Focused on training to make sure you understand all of the solutions.
Fast paced environment which is good for me.
Cons
Takes some time to learn all there is ADP has to offer businesses. Patience while learning about everything there is highly needed.
Still of the mindset that a great salesperson always makes a great manager.
Figuring out who to turn to when there are client issues that need to be addressed can be stressful when you're new to the company.
Advice to Senior Management
Great salespeople do not always make great managers - unless you help to groom & train them before they take over a management role.
You should adjust salaries across the board to make sure that employees who have worked here a while are on the same page as new employees.
Pros
ADP Is a Company the truly Fosters a winnign enviroment
Cons
Large Org that can sometimes move slow
Pros
I work here for the pay. ADP's salaries are not the highest in the world, but the commission structure is built for people who exceed goals to make a tremendous amount of money. Flexibility and autonomy are great too, with a great team culture.
Cons
A lot of extra meetings where people like to hear themselves talk. One of the main drawbacks to ADP is that everyone knows who you are and have had experiences with you positive or negative. Either way, the majority of people have already formed an opinion of you and your company before you even make contact.
Advice to Senior Management
If I could offer any advice it would be to get more proactive about hiring practices related to implementation and service.
Pros
The management team is wonderful; supportive and wants the best for you. Training is exceptional and after a year, you are well versed to have a business conversation in almost any industry. Great confidence booster.
Cons
Finding out how to navigate through such a large company can be frustrating and time consuming if you have clients with tax, service, HR or payroll issues. It takes a while to figure out who and where to go to have your client issues resolved.
Advice to Senior Management
personality fits between management and employees is very important; try to avoid changing the managers. Mentoring is a big part of your success or failure and needs to be facilitated better.
Pros
I always know I have the best products in my bag so I present to prospects with confidence. The vast majority of companies I approach have respect for ADP.
The working environment is fast-paced, which is a good fit for me. Sales leadership have all come up through the ranks and remember what it's like out in the field. I truly think they have their rep's best interest in mind as they run their sales teams.
The Comp Plan is a good one-- the way it is structures is a great incentive to work hard because you know the financial rewards will match your sales results. My opportunity here is tremendous.
Cons
It is a fast-paced environment, which may not be a good fit for everyone. That doesn't mean our sales processes are fast-- they usually are not. ADP is a numbers-driven organization and the expectation is that every day, without exception, you are doing things to bring in business. So, you have to learn to hustle and be patient all at the same time.
My sales territory is pretty large-- 9 counties-- and I spend a lot of time in it. "Windshield time" doesn't bother me (most days!) but if you do not like it, this job is not for you.
ADP is much more than just "payroll" and it takes time and effort to get a good grasp on all that we can offer a potential or current client. I have been at ADP for more than two years and still feel a little green.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend less money on Corporate -led marketing campaigns to free up funds for local offices to do their own.
Pros
We truly help companies in a very fundamental way. It is meaningful work and nobody does it better. There is always a good business conversation and a connection to something we do -- every day is different and keeps it fresh.
Cons
Big organization with plenty of politics and bureaucracy -- hard to focus on things that matter and not get caught up in some of the internal processes.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on consistency and communication / change things up when necessary but think through impact of the change first.
