I have been working at ADP full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

-Lots of people have long tenure in the company which tells you they like the company
-Good business model : add more services to add additional revenue streams
    -Great people to work with
-Good recognition of work from management and others
-Can work form home many times during the week when needed.
    -Casual work attire
-Lots of work to keep you busy ; constant stream of side-projects and production work.

    Cons

-Too many production fixes that are not coordinated well sometimes
-Many associates are unhappy with compensation rewards
-There is lots of off-hour support that is required. Sometimes weekend support. But this is expected from bigger companies.
-Work phone is paid out of pocket but plan is covered by company. Many companies pay for the phone as well. ADP doesn't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-Peer review of code is needed and should be required for all components in normal code development life cycle to reduce defects in production
-More training is needed for bleeding edge technologies to compete against other competitors.
-Quicker turnaround of problems to keep clients happy

I worked at ADP full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company with top notch benefit package. They have great opportunity for career growth and to move up the ladder.

    Cons

Depending on the department and boss, you might end up working more than just 8 hours so its always a great idea to get paid by the hour and not be on a salary.

I worked at ADP full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you fit into the title description of Young, Blonde, Fresh College Grad, then this is the right company for you. If not, steer clear.

    Cons

Review of Small Business Services Call Center Parsippany:
A few of the many Cons
-Not inclusive of persons from other backgrounds who may not fit the Valley Girl/Guy stereotype
-Management that doesn't interact with members of other teams even though you all work together and for the same goal
-The new hire assistance you receive from fellow co-workers is based on whether they like you or not
-Not a pleasant place to be on a daily basis
-You can work here for years and if you're not a part of the "in" crowd, you will not be recommended for advancement

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate everyone regardless of their appearance and be willing to give them the same assistance as those on your "favorites" list
Properly explain Company expectations of new hires during on-boarding
Create a more inclusive atmosphere and give opportunities to everyone

Poor planning, upper management protecting his/her own job rather than company goals.

I worked at ADP full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Salary. Medical. Dental. 401K. High customer retention.

    Cons

High pressure. Poor product quality. Hires contractors with limited experience in complex jobs. Upper management out of touch with reality. Do not follow proper development process. Product plans for only the next 3-6 months.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the senior developers who know the product. Listen to the senior product managers. Follow Agile process the way it is meant to be used.

I have been working at ADP full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I like the flexibility of my position.

    Cons

Extremely stressful. Associates have twice the amount of work they are led to believe they should have in order to provide the appropriate level of service to clients. OT is frowned upon.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Staff properly and fund projects properly

Horrible work culture. It wasn't the work, rather the demeaning attitudes of management.

    Pros

    Good pay, and good hours

    Cons

Doesn't embrace diversity. I know of at least two people that had to sue them and the people won. A lot people cry at this place. Wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hope the lawsuits helped them to change their ways.

I have been working at ADP full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Salary and benefits are good, CEO is new and hopefully can drive some process improvements as well as culture change.

    Cons

No standardization, no good process flow or procedures in primarily the smaller subsidiaries of ADP (i.e. - Dealer Services parent and children). There's tons of data but most do not have access to the data and those who do don't know what all of it means. DATA needs to be supplied or access to it in order to run the business efficiently. Due to the paranoia over individual access to confidential information and competitive issues, management does not share critical data and information freely. R&D is stretched with more than it can handle and india is not efficient in moving along projects. Job skills of current talent and their dedication of company initiatives is lacking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve communications across business lines. TRUST your managers with confidential DATA and embrace new ideas to run the business from "outside in" perspective. Shake it up ! Many long term associates are too comfortable in their jobs and think management reports to them instead of the other way around. Management spends more time micromanaging employees than running the business due to all the administrative demands that are required. Most employees would rather run to HR than talk to their manager due to the culture. "Change Management" is a term used in approach to transitioning individuals, teams, and organizations to a desired future state. My best advise, focus on this transition to bring the company to the next level.

Difficult to Advance on Merit Alone - Support Group

Former Employee - Technical Support Representative in Parsippany, NJ
Former Employee - Technical Support Representative in Parsippany, NJ

I worked at ADP full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Stable workforce, reasonable pay and benefits.

    Cons

Raises and bonuses tend to be awarded based on maximum group limits which severely undervalues higher performing units. There is a pool of money per group, so if you are in a talented group that all deserve higher percentage of bonus it won't matter. You will get the same percentage as an average performer in an under-performing group.

Promotions tend to be based on seniority and favoritism over talent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend more time really evaluating the talent. There are good people there that seem to never get a look for promotions or cross-department transfers.
