    I worked at AEON Stores

    Pros

Moved up the ladder very quickly. Steep learning curve so its exciting. At the start, good camaderie with the people you join with as you go through development programmes together.

    Cons

Very heavy workload coupled with shift work and working weekends and holidays made it a tough job to balance with a personal life. Sales targets are also very challenging - meet it and you get a higher one next time. High turnover of staff because of the low pay and hard working conditons - heavy lifting, being on your feet all day - meant you are always training new people. As manager, the demands are draining - from the top, the customers, the merchandisers, staff...plus having to deal with all sorts of problems all day every day means you can't focus on the bigger picture, the planning, the staff development. Exhausting work environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to recognise the efforts of staff on the floor - from the lowest staff to the line managers who deal with all the problems that bringin the money.
