    Pros

    Great career advancement opportunities, move to other departments, good pay, okay training program, hour lunch, paid vacation, paid time off and paid holidays off.

    Cons

    Government policies are not steady.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    all staff members should and be allowed to ask questions about policies.

    State benefits and retirement plan good.

    never can help people on the phones. Always telling them to call their ahcccs health plan

    I have been working at AHCCCS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    The benefits are good. They offer many pre-tax deductions, vision, dental, medical. The offer a defferred comp retirement plan through nationwide services. The standard M-F, 8-5 schedule is nice.

    Cons

    The middle management is all women, and the human resources are all women, they are all buddy-buddy, and therefore cannot do anything wrong. Human resources will do whatever the middle managment decides unless the employee is complaining about harassment, which has to be investigated. Be very cautious seeking employment with AHCCCS.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Drop the 'do as I say, not as the policy is written attitude.' Stop writing your own anual reviews.

    Pros

    Great benefits and retirement. Work optional.

    Cons

    There is a lot of dead wood in some departments, despite layoffs. Some managers keep their friends collecting paychecks for year with no discernible work products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    There is poor management in some divisions, so good employees soon learn to sit and do nothing, or disappear to "virtual office" and run side businesses on State time.

    Pros

    It is a Government Job, that's the only good thing about it.

    Cons

    Management choose favorites for Information Services Information Technology. Their friends get to work from home not average hardworking individuals. Testing is not structured, it is chaotic.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop taking advice from your non-management employees on how to run the department and what you should do or say to an employee. If you can't handle testing as a management lvl 4 then move on and let someone else that knows how to run the department take over. Stop putting down the developers as they do an excellent job with the time they are allotted. Get fresh blood the mgmt currently is holding the department back from accomplishing the objectives and goals of AHCCCS.
