“A mixed bag”

Pros

Good paying company, with decent work life balance. In some specific product lines there is a lot you can learn. There is a lot you can learn from an international management perspective due to AIG's matrix structure.

Cons

Very slow moving company in terms of decision making. Completely not conducive for young employees. The org structure is archaic, and simply not conducive to innovation, rapid responses to market changes - too many approvals required, very archaic IT department etc.

Advice to Senior Management

More independent decision making required at international subsidiaries. Invest in better talent at all levels, not just by paying more, but by creating an environment for stars to perform.
