I worked at AJ's Fine Foods

    Pros

Benefits, Insurance, easy work, fellow employees were very nice

    Cons

Entitled rude customers, managers baby the customers, very limited advancement opportunities, silly wage raises, WORK DRAMA

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

When offering positions to employees, actually follow through with them. Also, after working there for a year, a .41 cent raise doesn't really cut it. Get organized and stop with the silly drama.

I have been working at AJ's Fine Foods full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Friendly co-workers, good benefits, good pay

    Cons

Horrible support from corporate office. Someone can get fired for stealing a pen on one hand, but on the other someone who is always late or no call's can last forever. A lot of expectations are put on staff, you are given a wrench to build a skyscraper. a lot of broken an old equipment and fixtures.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work a day in our shoes. No idea what goes on at store level and doesn't care

    Pros

good before they could not pay their bills

    Cons

They took percentages from our pay and stopped paying into our pensions, to pay for their mistakes. They wanted a store on every corner.

I have been working at AJ's Fine Foods part-time (less than a year)

    Pros

I have only been with AJ's for a few months but being in the industry for 10 years +, so far so good. They work with your schedule, managers are all great and friendly (at least at the DC RANCH location), good products, good customers. I never take work home with me or dread coming in. Also once you are in Bashas, you are also welcome into the credit union.

    Cons

Too relaxed with employees who slack. Pay could be a little higher with the quality of knowledge and customer service required of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Still getting to know the company. I have met Ike Basha only once and he was super nice. I hope to stay with the company longer and hope that things are as good long term.

This place is an absolute corrupt joke! Anyone that suggests otherwise is a company mouthpiece. Should sell off company!

I have been working at AJ's Fine Foods full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Paid vacation
ABC type work (also a con...mindless, unchallenging labor)
Sometimes you might have some awesome co-workers to buffer the miserable atmosphere and company culture.

    Cons

Promote the most useless and incompetent employees to management. 95% uneducated with a simple college degree, forget about any corporate member having higher education, most have zero! Stick around for an eternity and rise up! LOL.

One of the most fraudulent places I have ever worked. They LIE constantly to the customer! Particularly in the meat department. The culture is run by a used car salesman type district supervisor who everybody loathes.

Depressed-repressed-and mindless employees comprise 75% of workforce

No company ladder to climb. If there is...it comes with an initial pay reduction and more often than not, promotions are in line for higher-ups family members..a.k.a. 'Nepotism'!

Forget about weekends or even one routine weekend day off....it's almost criminal to request in this line of work. Just don't even kid yourself. Just go look for a white collar job or go back to school!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Raise the standards of management personnel and require some type of education for advanced positions. Basha's/AJ's is loosing ground rapidly because they have become about compliance and lack foresight and any brand marketing skills whatsoever! It is incredibly embarrassing really. Stop policing employees as if they are grade school children and foster an atmosphere of prosperity and growth. YOU SHOULD SELL OFF to a real national chain grocer that knows what they are doing!

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay a higher market rate wage, congratulate employees for high sales and service levels, don't cut FT employee hours too much in the summer time
