Pros
there was a lot of projects, a lot of work. Some managers were better than others.
Cons
The entire time i was there those who were in charge of projects conducted them all incorrectly. They would come to our department after the project was already started and tell us - you have to get this done on this day. They never came to us prior so that we could plan, organize, and speka up to let them know that their project dates were not realistic. This happen over and over. The result was that our deparmtnet had to drop everythign and spend much more money to get our tasks completed on time. There are better ways to run projects. Oh, and another thing is this cimpany was based on the Old boys network and they stuck to that for many many years. Finally the last several years that old mentality had changed.
Advice to Senior Management

Cons

Advice to Senior Management
None
Pros
Competitive pay considering other wireless companies. 401k, bonuses, dental, and vision plans were very great to have. Going to work was not a chore because we had other people that depended on us.
Cons
The only downside for Alltel would be the selling to another wireless company. Don't get me wrong, the purchaser's are good companies, but Alltel was much better at relating and helping the customers with there issues.
Pros
I'm always learning and there is a lot of room to grow professionally. My co workers and I are like a small family.
Cons
Lots of downtime and there are no working demo phones
Pros
Benefits were great. Coworkers were awesome.
Cons
Incompetent upper management that was disrespectful to employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Managers needed to be held accountable.
Pros
the job over all was not the worst over all the company had allot of growing to do with leaders and supervisors. the management was not bad at times i wondered if they knew what they were doing or what was going on. the environment was good, happy, and comfortable to go to every day. there was a major change in practice after the buy out weeding out allot of the over all hiccups in the company I’m happy as an employee. feel there should have been changes made prior to buy out.
Cons
favoritism lack of knowledge for the people that are in leading positions.
Advice to Senior Management
work on the ethhics of the company leaders to show employers what a manager should do
Pros
Commission payed vacation and thats it really
Cons
everything worst place to work was way better before verizon merger
Pros
The people I worked with were hard-working, dedicated, just good people top to bottom.
The pay in IT was very competitive.
Good "on-the-spot" type recognition programs.
Very supportive of "work-life" balance
Cons
Career growth was limited mainly due to my particular work location.
Pros
i have so much fun the customers bring something new everyday and they make selling easy...not a hard sell either just got to know what to put in the customers hand...easy going job doesnt feel like work
Cons
commissions have changed lower...hope it changes back to the old way with new incentives...
Pros
The company culture was one of the best I have ever come across. Upper management took the stance that the higher you were in management the more more people you served. I really respected that. Every year they required employees to review their management team and they took the feedback seriously. No company is perfect of course, but Alltel really cares about their employees and their customers. I was let go when Verizon bought Alltel. I stayed on about 6 months after the buy-out and it was very clear that Verizon did not have the same company culture that I was used to with Alltel!
Cons
The only down side that I experienced was when I worked as a retail consultant and the hours were long and of course I had to work some nights and weekends and holidays, but that is the reality in any retail job.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to respect your employees. A pat on the back goes a long way!
