    I worked at ALSTOM full-time

    Pros

Challenging Work, Great Work Environment & Colleagues

    Cons

Change in U.S. Leadership in 2013 - went from a great CEO to someone who never worked as a CEO before

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire someone who thinks about other people vs. themselves to run this company; someone who actually cares about all of the employees instead of just the favorites

    Pros

Easy to move up if you're willing to work for it. Paid training. Benefits package amazing.

    Cons

A lot of our work colleagues are in Switzerland or France to name a couple places. Time differences, and trying to find the right person overseas to speak with can be difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to run the U.S. Locations like it's done in Europe. Let the employees have a voice. (This just started with a change in management )

    Pros

Varied responsibilities in a rich social environment. Respect of people. Technically challenging.

    Cons

Politics politics and politics. We can move as long as we have all flanks we'll covered. Seniority allows you progress thanks to your contacts and network. However, newcomers are note really fitting to the archaic structure of command.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Renew you management.

I have been working at ALSTOM full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for. Has a lovely location in a greenbelt, most people have their own offices, but open spaces appeared as well a year ago. Excellent people to work with, there is a high concentration of very nice people.

    Cons

There are some antique projects written in C that one should avoid, but again every company has those.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I've heard this quite often: people learn how valuable they are to the company only at the time they resign.

    Pros

Stable environment with a European work mentality. Alstom will give you global exposure and you can really work anywhere and move around the company internally.

    Cons

Very process oriented which may not fit individual business needs, outdated softwares and can be highly political

    Pros

Technically knowledgeable teams, mostly relaxed work atmosphere and good opportunity to gain experience. Flexible work hours and ability to travel both domestically and internationally.

    Cons

Unclear communication on product growth. Salary raises are low unless the first salary is negotiated well. Need more collaboration between teams.

I have been working at ALSTOM full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people. Competitive compensation and benefits. Emphasis on Corporate Social Responsibility. Promotion from within.

    Cons

Large company processes and politics. Movement towards centralized management takes decisions away from the "boots on the ground" and policies often disconnected from practicality.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow for distributed control over local business decisions, and subsequent accountability for those decisions. Currently, an employee could fail at objectives, but easily blame the internal forces (from management) that prevent individual objective success. Performance targets are constantly moving which is difficult.

I worked at ALSTOM full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Alstom offered tremendous potential for a young communications professional to develop expertise in multiple areas of subject matter while building new skills through direct interaction with and counsel to senior executives.

    Cons

The company, and its customers, are subject to any number of broader trends and issues that can add pressure to the day-to-day working environment but, even in light of that reality, Alstom never loses sight on taking care of its people.

I have been working at ALSTOM full-time

    Pros

Great benefits, international atmosphere in the office, sometimes good training opportunities, very easy to move up if you're talented.

    Cons

Highly siloed, most job stress is due to unnecessary internal friction. Very inconsistent and counter productive application of process (system D).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You people spend too much time fighting each other, this is waste! Processes that cause infighting cost the company huge $$$.
