    Pros

Great Benefits, people possess excellent technical skills. Good support on work visas and immigration. Good opportunity to travel for work. Excellent work life balance.

    Cons

Salary is on the lower side considering the market around you. Mentorship can be lacking at times. Career progression can be murky if you are not vocal about moving up.

    Advice to Management

Offer competitive salaries considering the high cost of living in the area. Consider implementing some leadership and rotational programs for interested employees.

Excellent Benefits. Very relaxed culture. Very smart people. Unfortunately not too good in choosing managers.

    Pros

Benefits, Salary, Offices, Really smart People

    Cons

A few manager focused too much on the short term. Cyclical business (and layoffs). Slow to adapt to new technologies though when I left it was already improving. Some manager manage by bullying employees, regardless of their actual performance. Too focused on "performance reviews" and not actual job done.

    Pros

Alstom is a dynamic company that provides opportunities both domestically and internationally. The firm is truly international providing opportunities to work with professionals from many cultures both locally and remotely.

    Cons

Frequent organizational changes create uncertainty among employees and can damage career prospects due to a lack of continuity in management. This often obscures career paths and damages employees motivation.

    Advice to Management

Consider the impact of reorganizations at local buisness unit levels before implementing the changes as many employees have turned over mangers at high level of frequency (every 1-1.5 years).

    Pros

Good place done mainly by colleagues, reliable even during crisis, level of challenge is high

    Cons

Transparency is not always present despite part of values, matrix organization only partially implemented, poor priority management

    Advice to Management

Be sure to obtain commitment from all levels of organization, empower middle management

    Pros

    work life balance is ok.

    Cons

Management consists of ABB rejects. Engineering is run by PR businessmen without degrees. They try to promote underachievers who spend their day stroking their egoes. They have talented and qualified Engineers but engineering work is filtered through non engineers leaving the Engineers with nothing to do until the customer screams. Then everyone scrambles to make the customer happy. The morale is in the gutter because management doesn't care about anything but kissing the director's butt. Quality lies about their warranty costs. Quality is a smokescreen of BS that is totally out of control. Sourcing has fired over 10 people in a year because the leader is a megalomaniac. GE needs to hurry up and clean house. It's obvious that the people in charge aren't very talented nor educated. I wish GE would do a competency analysis of Engineering.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to micromanage. Work on communication between departments. Treat your employees equally, male and female. Get a real ECN process like the rest of the world. Stop trying to give back your appreciation for being appointed to a position you're inadequate for by trying to promote non degreed, unqualified underachievers.
