Pros
all the free movies you can watch, free popcorn, free soda pop, free icee slush
Cons
work breaks are too short , lunchtime is too short, employees must pay $1 for hotdogs, there is no discount on nachos,
Advice to Senior Management
Keep track of managers dating lower level employees, the movie theater isn't THAT important of a job so stop acting like you made the movies with your own two hands you popcorn slaves.
Pros
Free tickets, good friends, fun place
Cons
braindead, not much advancement, need more motivational atmosphere
Advice to Senior Management
look for people to develop them
Pros
Free Movies, Popcorn, and soft drinks! Fellow employees are almost always great to work with. Good opportunities for advancement. Very flexible most times across many different levels. Extremely diverse, friendly, open, and welcoming company!
Cons
Recent changes in certain policies and procedures appear to be detracting from Vision/Mission of company. While more money seems to be made; there are frequent guest complaints. Management team does not always take a personal interest in their "team" / employees and should treat them more like assets than liabilities or mere "co-workers."
Advice to Senior Management
Keep trying to find new ways to sell/modify/edit Stubs program; many people do not like paying for a rewards program, however there are always ways around this. (ex. $5 back for concession when purchasing $30 gift card is a great idea) Stop raising prices every single quarter. Increased raises, incentive contests, continuing employee of the month, and any other ways to show gratitude and praise for employees whenever possible.
Pros
Free movies for you and family
flexible work hours
Cons
minimum wage
minimum raises( around 5-10 cents a year if lucky) even with excellent employee record
hours are random you could work at any time of day or night
no breaks
High turnover
Advice to Senior Management
Care about your good employees make them want to stay, give them raises.Listen to your employees.
Pros
You make amazing friends and you can learn a lot.
Cons
You basically sell your soul. No Holidays, not free time.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't let them take advantage of you.
Pros
Flexible hours, free movies, chance to advance
Cons
Management don't know how to talk and treat employees and asking for stubs all day is annoying and low pay
Advice to Senior Management
Learn to treat employees with respect and raise pay for all the hard work they do
Pros
The coworkers are great and it makes going to work not as dreadful knowing that you will get to chat with friends all day.
The job itself was easy. When it was dead you didn't have to do much and when it was busy the hours flew by.
Free movies for you and your family. Bring a friend to see a movie in IMAX and you just saved $34.
They had no problem with you trading shifts with a coworker. You didn't even really have to tell them beforehand, just as long as that person showed up for you, you were good. This also enabled you to rack up a lot of hours. Many people were willing to give up unwanted shifts, so even if you got scheduled 20 hours that week, you could easily turn that into 40.
Cons
STUBS. Management threatening you if you don't sell an adequate amount of memberships. The stress wasn't worth $7.25/hr.
The hours were bad too. I used to have a life, but when I started working here I was scheduled almost every Friday and Saturday til 1 or 2 in the morning. I missed going out and partying.
No overtime and no holiday pay. Is that even legal?! Sometimes I would be scheduled over 40 hours per week (even though I was a part-time employee?) and receive no extra pay. It's going to take a lot more than minimum wage to get me to miss being with my family on Christmas so I can get yelled at by someone whose "popcorn is too salty."
No breaks. If I'm working 8 or 9 hour days, I deserve a break, even a 15 minute one, but not according to AMC.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus more on the wellbeing of employees. Don't threaten or embarrass a crew member just because they aren't a great salesperson. It's a movie theater, get over yourself.
Pros
Free movie passes
free drinks
Friendly people
Cons
hot
poor mangement
no breaks
on feet all day
Advice to Senior Management
better breaks
Pros
Work multiple jobs/many experiences
Free movies
Good coworkers
Booth is great (if digital projection hasn't made job completely obsolete)
Cons
Promotions seem random/unworthy people promoted
Mediocre pay/hours
Cranky, rude customers are hard to deal with sometimes
Little room for advancement
Advice to Senior Management
Need to focus on taking care of your employees, less time on the bottom line/satisfying unworthy customers
Pros
Reasonable to personal issues, decent training. Good starting salary for what kind of job it was. Nice uniforms and people.
Cons
Management on different pages. Bad business strategy by letting in all of the customers while the kinks were still being worked out.
Advice to Senior Management
Get together on one central idea and stick with it. Improve on the menu and keep the improvements handy for the cooks on the line.
