I have been working at AMC Entertainment part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Fun work environment, occasional parties and screenings for employees, annual summer picnic at the park, good hours, flexible schedules

    Cons

No holiday pay, no health coverage, must work weekends and holidays, problems with scheduling, hectic busy weekends, under staffed

It's an easy job for those who can handle large crowds and a few rude guests.

I worked at AMC Entertainment (more than a year)

    Pros

If you enjoy the movie going experience or a big film buff, you will love the unlimited free movies. I worked with a few excellent individuals who helped make the shift go by quicker.

    Cons

You make minimum wage and will never receive full time hours if you're film crew. They will write you up over anything like not having black shoe laces.

I worked at AMC Entertainment part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

At the time for a 15-16 year old the pay was slightly better than say McDonald's where as though my friend who worked there made minimum wage (at the time was $5.25) and I made $6.00 then after a year I had a .40 raise which then was bumped up another .10 when minimum wage changed.
I learned skills that I apply now, ten years later as far as how to really provide service to " guests" and work as a team.
It was clean and jam packed every weekend until they stopped playing movies that would be blockbusters for the younger black crowds to deter fights
The actual job was easy and probably a really good experience for everyone around me. If you handled cash you could' have easily moved into anything else like retail, banking, hospitality
Free movies, popcorn and soft drinks, holiday parties
    Promotes from within
I made friends with people I'm still friends with to this day

    Cons

I was sexually harassed as a 15 year old by one of the O.C's but he was dealt with accordingly after I called a hotline, I was too freaked out to go to anyone at the theater. The creep's girlfriend at the time, now wife and mother of his child also harassed me before he stopped working there. Come to find out this guy and his girl harassed others there before me.
Too many teens without close supervision - one of my friends was robbed, they stole his iPod when he was taking trash out to a dumpster at the end of his shift, a whole lot of people, both people that work there and moviegoers would have sex in the theaters
Lots of cattiness especially among co-workers and gossip and cliques (I guess it's expected when the majority of crew members are teenagers)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have the managers really check camera's and walk around periodically throughout their shifts to make sure it's really a positive environment at ALL TIMES to ensure no one is hurt, abused, or doing things that they shouldn't be.
