Pros
Support and opportunities for growth.
Cons
no guarantees, rewarded for effort you put in
Pros
Accessibility to leadership. Directors and Managers are open to new ideas and always available.
Cons
Pay and Customer Service. At times the position feels more like a customer service job than anything else.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay the Recruiters that produce and let go the ones who don't.
Pros
If you prefer a fast moving environment than this is the place.
Cons
Pay scale is not in align with markeplace
Pros
Its a paycheck, worked with some friendly co-workers. Other than that I seen no pros working at AMN
Cons
Extremely low pay, Greedy leaders of the AMN company. Plan to live paycheck to paycheck. Revolving door. Very old computers
Advice to Senior Management
Stop being greedy leaders, pay your employee competitive wages which you dont & you know it. eliminate the revolving door.
Pros
HR Compliant with Time off Requests
8-5 - no way to bring work home
Cons
Sweat shop - 80 dial/day minimum
Poor leadership and communication
Advice to Senior Management
Strengthen leadership through stronger communication and relevant training/coaching.
Pros
Great communication and addressed issues promptly, offered amazing compensation and locations that were within my range. I didn't feel pressured and felt I could be very open with my recruiter.
Cons
Unfortunately my recruiter took another position. There were payroll issues, however, they were addressed quickly. There seemed to be many process flow changes as the company was bought out twice while I worked for them.
Advice to Senior Management
More functional and accurate website.... I haven't gotten the customer service I was accustomed to since my recruiter left. Unfortunately, I have moved on with another company but I do not regret the time I worked for this company!
Pros
Some of the employees are congenial
Nice gym and lunch area/dining room.
Nice builiding and convenient location with good parking
Good IT support and adequate supplies when needed
Cons
Many employees hate their jobs and have told HR...promises are made to look into issues and try to improve but nothing ever happens...this has been going on for a few years now. When they want to get rid of someone, they double and triple workload, then hire back someone else they know or befriended. It is very unsecure and tense...looks of staff, even the youngest ones have health issues which look to be related to chronic stress...yes CHRONIC. Management does not care...they are always working to goals to make Board of Director and CEO happy and have no feelings about how abusive they are to employees. It's a shocking environment and shameful.
Advice to Senior Management
Have an outside consulting firm take a long, hard look at how you treat employees and make changes quick.....as the CONS filter down to the poor clients who cannot be handled with best care.
Pros
Executive Leadership is very strong and works hard to deliver on the promise of the values and company culture to the lowest level of staff.
The plan for 2011 is strong.
Cons
Pay is terrible for San Diego.
Advice to Senior Management
You guys are doing a great job at making the entry level folks feel valued and listened to - well done. Your Director-level management team needs more of this or your going to start to lose much of the backbone that got you through the recession.
Pros
Nice cafe and gym for employees.
Cons
Poor management, it is hit or miss with managers. All about who you know not about management skills.
Pros
Largest supplier of healthcare professionals to hospitals. Lots of jobs for healthcare professionals. Company supports national and community charity efforts.
Cons
Low pay for healthcare professionals. You will find yourself the lowest paid travel nurse at your assignment and be charged for things other companies would not charge you for.
There is nothing to encourage healthcare professionals to be loyal to the company. Travelers talk to several people rather than having one point of contact. Paychecks are routinely messed up. Pay is why most people work. It is the most important thing for a travel nurse/allied company to get correct and this company gets it wrong more often than most travelers can take. Continuous decrease in benefits to employees of the company while senior management salaries stay at the top. Company laid off hundreds of employees, slashed benefits while keeping senior management salaries high. Departments are isolated from one another.
Advice to Senior Management
Start to see employees as more than a means to an end. They are human beings. Treat your healthcare providers as if they are as important to you as they really are. Without healthcare providers, you have nothing!
