    Pros

Decent spot for entry level job. Pay is around average for most roles. Some cool people to get to know.

    Cons

    - Managers are out to make themselves rise up the ranks, rather than for the good of the lower level employees they lead. Not a place to stay long term without connections.

    - Certain teams will never see the work/life balance that is so heavily pushed as a benefit of working here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat lower level employees as potential future talent and invest in them. Words do not equal action when it comes to the so-called "work hard, play hard" culture we pride our company on being - this is still a pipe dream to many of the hardest workers here.

I worked at AOL as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

Responsibilities, benefits, company culture, company size, attention to interns, internship program, intern mingling with managers, upward mobility, possible post grad hiring,

    Cons

sometime lack of company culture, extreme silos between O&O and ad/sales team, work-life balance, training, constant change in corporate executive leadership, budgetary issues and limitation, sterotype to company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to break the mold that AOL is often known to be in, executive leaders should also take more time to listen and give more attention to the employees.

I worked at AOL as a contractor (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good work/life balance. Feeling of working for a smaller company. Good benefits. Great co-workers in my group. Ability to telecommute in some positions. Company has reinvented itself and has managed to stay alive for over 20 years.

Not bleeding edge technical company. Management still trying to find their way forward. Great loyalty to employees. Once your part of the family you can network. Could be frustrating to a technologist. Senior management focused on reinventing itself so you may not feel like your a star.
