Great entry level experience.

I worked at APAC Customer Services full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGreat on entry level experience. Training has come a long way over the years. Location is convenient to the majority of the area.

ConsLack of promotion from within. Pay disparity between hourly and salaried positions. (No incentive to move forward when these two are combined.)

Performance based scheduling makes it difficult to go to school/college and causes changes to be made on a bi-weekly basis to your shift.

No annual reviews for wages nor cost of living adjustments. Causes stagnation in higher-level departments,and thus lack of motivation or incentive to perform well.

Advice to Senior ManagementAddress issues evenly across all departments at site, and have feedback from a variety of agents to assist in coming up with solutions that benefit the company together. Be more selective in hiring process to bring good talented people in from the beginning.

Decent place to start if your trying to gain call center experience and move on.

I worked at APAC Customer Services full-time for more than 5 years

ProsOnly pros that I have are that I didn't have to work weekends and it was easy for me to transfer to other departments and make more money.

ConsPay was below average. Facility was old and dirty inside. Job is only tolerable if you are in college or retired, dead end job other than that. High school atmosphere.

Advice to Senior ManagementAsk for input from employees on scripts used during calls.

ConsDisorganized, Inconsistent, favoritism, lack of sufficient training,

Advice to Senior ManagementGet your act together and stop trying to roll out incentives or activities without making sure everything has been worked out, approved, purchased, etc. Knock off your favoritism and be consistent, if person A is fired for absenteeism, person B should be as well if their absenteeism is just as bad if not worse. Provide better training for management.

ConsManagement is unreliable and heartless. Will promise you something and not come through. You have to be "in" or a favorite to get anywhere.

A Great Entry Job, But Expect Favoritism and Incompetence from Others

ProsFlexible Hours
Opportunity to make a little extra money
Decent Starting Salary
Long-term job if you need it - they don't lay people off

ConsFavoritism and nepotism are absolutely rampant. Managers love you one minute and throw you under the bus the next. Your co-workers will often happily stab you in the back - the gossip machine works non-stop and if you are not part of one of the cliques you can expect to be treated like crap. If you become a coach or a supervisor expect to be worked like a dog.

Advice to Senior ManagementFlush everyone that is still there from Teletech and get new supervisors that actually care about their people.

Very flexible, if your a favorite.

Pros-Can sit or stand, desk moves
-Decent starting salary (in tampa anyway)
-Flexible with c/o; attendance (again, if your a favorite)

Cons-If your not a favorite, don't expect to last long
-Management can be a hard ass sometimes
-High call volume
-Usually (60%) of the time, you cannot help the customer

A Test of Patience and Fortitude

ProsCompetitive pay (all levels)
Flexibility of hours

Conspoor (and I mean very POOR) management by site manager and operations managers
very unhelpful managers, leads, coaches, etc.
questionable payroll practices
extremely negative and demeaning place to work much of the time
firm values are never put into practice or even discussed
regularly creates incentive plans and fails to deliver on the incentive after performance

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a vested interest in your sites

ProsGood people to work with. Job Security. Due to high expectations if you make it at APAC you can make it in any call center environment.

ConsAdvancements are based on who you know and who likes you. Perception is their reality regardless of your work ethics. You are only as good as your last success in their eyes. You can be on top of the world one day and out the door the next. Lack of development in leadership positions. In one statement if promoted to leadership you are thrown to the dogs and set up for failure. Not many members of leadership act as mentors...more like dictators.

Advice to Senior ManagementDevelop your employees and stop worrying about the numbers all the time and focus on moral.
