Pros
Solid company, solid leadership, not going away.
Cons
Average pay at best, some employees not very bright.
Advice to Senior Management
More communication please.
Pros
Company offers a fair salary, commission program is fair. Benefits are good.
Cons
Management
Career Pathing
Focus changes to frequently. Too many iniatives.
Advice to Senior Management
Really focus on what people in the field are saying too many decisions are made in the corporate office that have no impact or importance to the field.
Pros
Great benefits. Fair pay. Hey it's a job.
Cons
Corporate policy slows things down.
Advice to Senior Management
Back off trust your employees.
Pros
Free food in the food court of some the accounts like Chase/AIG etc.... .A decent benefit package. Discounts on products such as sodas, juice, paper plates, plastic cups....
Cons
Alot of bias. All of the route drivers only attend to their specific routes, and as a route jumper, i would get calls 2-3am saying that i have to come to fill their route.I knew what the job entailed before i got hired but after awhile things jus started getting ridiculous.
Advice to Senior Management
Common sense...the route manager would always take the easiest route and throw me under the bus with a 15-20thousand dollar route...that i did not get commission on.
Pros
the management respected you as a person gave you the time off when you asked for it. did what they could to provide a good working environment.
Cons
I believe the downside to Aramark would be they have not put enough effort in expanding the business. they don't hire enough sales staff
Advice to Senior Management
Hire more sales professionals, pay them well and give them intensives to grow the business. if you would do that your company would grow strong.
Pros
Promotions can be fast and fequent.
Many different opportunities.
Lots of freedom in management positions
Cons
Very political.
Senior management didn't know anything about how to do manager's jobs below them.
I received little or no training.
Advice to Senior Management
Be prepared to sink or swim. A lot of managers are required to figure out their jobs with little training.
Pros
Getting to meet different people at the Conference Center
Cons
Many. I worked at the Wharton School as a Conference Concierge. It is all run by Aramark. I was treated terribly while I was pregnant there. We are told to not take water off of the refreshment stands for the students yet the Managers there did it all the time. I was not supposed to leave my post while I was 7 months pregnant yet when I tried to get back-up nobody would answer the phone. I was basically forced to run to the ladies room while the class was in session and than got yelled at when I was not at my post even though there was no one outside of the room to attend to. When I left to have my baby, no card was sent and not even a congrats. When I came back from Maternity Leave, they fired me. It was an absolutely horrible experience. The people at Penn were awesome but the Aramark Managers were terrible to me. I knew it was when I was 7 months pregnant and crying in the ladies room. I have been an admin since I was 15 and decided to make a change by taking that position which was a terrible mistake.
Advice to Senior Management
Treat your employees with a lot more respect and also practice what you preach. Don't just judge your employees by their mistakes, praise them when they make great decisions as well.
Pros
-Great employees
-Great pay compared to other subways, slightly above minimum wage at least
-Great management, manager and supervisors were nice
-Can be a fun place to work
-Very flexible scheduling, people can pick up your shifts
Cons
-Low pay for what's required of you
-Can't go over 40 hrs. if not you'll get written up
-Sometimes not enough hours were available
-No paid overtime or benefits
Advice to Senior Management
-Don't talk down to people as if they're incompetent
-Try to train and develop your employees, especially those that don't excel at what they do, this will increase employee engagement
Pros
Rewards for a job well done. Managers do try to help solve problems even if it takes a while.
Cons
Became inflexible when it comes to staying competitive with the competition thus we can't be as compeititive as we were a few years ago.
Advice to Senior Management
Get with the changing times. Alter business model to stay competitive.
Pros
Used to be home to some really talented, upbeat people. Good sales training program. Compensation is good for the top performers.
Cons
Multiple downsizings in 2009 absolutely killed morale throughout the organization. After each one they would say that's it - then a month later more people get the axe. They add executive positions and gut the field level leaving no support for the people on the street actually getting the job done. Bob Wilson killed this group - I understand he finally got the boot but it will take years to get back to where we were.
Advice to Senior Management
Having a meeting about how important employee engagement is does not equal engagement. Actually follow through on something that you promise the field in regards to recognition. Quit rolling out so many new initiatives at the same time. Pick the most important, focus on those so we can do them well, then get the next round in. As it stands we try to do so many different things that we can't do anything well.
