Richmond, VA

Former Employee – worked at ARAMARK part-time for less than a year

ProsComprehensive health benefits after one month of working, friendly people.

ConsYou don't feel like you're working for Aramark, you feel like you're working for the building where you go to work. (Food service in my experience)

Advice to Senior ManagementFind a way of having employees at food service locations experience more of a team environment. There was no way for me to get to know the people I worked with outside voluntary socializing.

ProsGreat global opportunities, also great for the CV or resume.

ConsDisorganized, a lot of layers to get anything done. A ton of corporate-driven projects that start, but never get finished.

Philadelphia, PA

Current Employee – been working at ARAMARK full-time for more than 7 years

ProsMy manager supports personal development and work-life balance. The people I work with are fantastic. I have had many good experiences and opportunities, and my salary is very competitive.

ConsThis past year has been a nightmare. The new CEO fired hundreds of managers who had been there. Perhaps he saw tenure as the inability to change. The new CEO is also bringing in a bunch of people from Pepsi where he used to work. Although I agree with a "fresh eyes" approach for changing culture, I believe the new CEO and his team are short-sighted. You can't have people who don't understand the current culture and the complexity of the business making major decisions about the future of the company. I think their approach is all wrong.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou say you want to put the "front line first," but your current strategy really doesn't lessen the workload for the front line or the district managers. Plus, your approach for separating employees from the company is poor. In addition to the people you're separating from the company involuntarily, you're losing many more voluntarily and disengaging hundreds of others. Your" hobby" of trying to rebuild this company is negatively affecting the financial security and emotions of the employees.

Current Employee – been working at ARAMARK

ProsLarge, stable company with long track record. They have a lot of resources, so whatever they do, they do well.

ConsThe managers in our location are very nice, and seem to be concerned about the individual. The corporation as a whole, does not. It's all about the numbers to them. Many of my coworkers have been treated unfairly.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry to adjust your business model to fit different accounts, rather than going with the "tried and true" methods that may not work all the time.

ProsAramark has a customer centric focus where strong win / win partnerships equal long term high customer satisfaction ratings. Aramark is continuously focused on how it can help its customers compete more effectively.

ConsIdentifying cons is a tough one. I suppose being a large company has cons as well as pros. Big ships don't turn as easy as small ones.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue focusing on the customer and the front line service provider as you have been. That's where the magic happens.

New York, NY

Former Employee – worked at ARAMARK full-time for more than 3 years

ProsAramark has a comprehensive training and room to move up and around the country. Also the many divisions and departments allow you to gain a diverse skill set.

ConsThe only cons that I can think of are the red tape involved when new equipment is needed but the roadblocks were mainly in middle management. Overall it was a good place to work

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep your employees engaged in what your department/divisions goals are.
