Pros
Gas card, car allowance, lap top and cell.
Cons
Quota for sales is way too high for this part of country in this economy.
Advice to Senior Management
Big gap between the union and non union employees...
Pros
Decent starting salary, company car is a big plus. This is not a boring job, if you are into crisis management this is the position for you.
Cons
DM's have relatively little authority, but very high responsibility. They are the buffer between corporate, the service department, and the customer. Amid all of that, they are expected to meet sales quotas.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep sales and service more separate. Also, you can't build goodwill with your customers if you are going to have three, four, and even five price increases per year.
Pros
Decent salary/bonus and good benefits.
Cons
Long Hours and high expectations. Questionable revenue generation tactics.
Advice to Senior Management
Break away from the "uniform" norms and create a true partnership with the customers that do not cost them a fortune over time.
Pros
Good hours and a great opportunity to learn the business and practice leadership skills. Benefits and salary are on par with the industry leaders.
Cons
Preassure to perform only increases with time. high turnover rate for mangers. Pay could be a little higher so as to compensate for the hours worked.
Advice to Senior Management
listen to ideas given and learn to communicate withthe employees on a 1-1 level. Forget about e-mailing as the main form of commuication for the important things.
Pros
decent money compared to the rest of the industry
Cons
you have to be a "boy" of upper management to get ahead here.
Advice to Senior Management
promote on talent and results
Pros
A world leader in the service business. There are several opportunities to cross sell with different divisions within the Aramark Corporation.
Cons
Very unrealistic business plan for the North east region of the country. Competition has many more feet on the street.
Advice to Senior Management
Upper Management should ask and listen more to what the Account Manager/Sales Representative has to say about developing sales strategy.
Pros
Good pay and for at least 3 days a week you have all the flexibility you need. No nights or weekends.
Cons
It's all about sales numbers. If you don't sell something, which must equal out to $100/rental per week you will not make it. The only chance you have of signing new business is if someone hates your competition and wants to go with someone else. Unfortunately, most do a good job of keeping their customers happy and/or under contract at all times. Customers contracts are usually in 3-5 year terms so if someone just renewed in the last year or two, forget about them. The real decision is to ask how long everyone has been on the sales team, who has been able to retire from a career in sales, what is the average tenure of a salesperson.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't give "Pie in the Sky" numbers and examples to your people. Show them actual numbers and results for new hires.
Pros
The corporation name is well-respected by general public. The compensation package is satisfactory if not a little above average.
Cons
Local Management is constantly changing which leads to a lot of problems. A fair amount of turnover with service team. When sales people are fired, the process is very whisper-whisper and those let-go have little or no warning. The process of sales team evaluation is not determined greatly on the service team and this can lead to unsatisfactory reviews.
Advice to Senior Management
I truly believe that there is not enough open communication and there is very little positive reinforcement for sales victories. A constant state of "what have done for me tomorrow" is not the way to movitate employees.
Pros
Tremendous growth opportunity
STRONG leadership
Very stable (not a roller coaster industry)
Employees are often hired in one department, then swtich careers if they want to!
Cons
It's tough to get rich working here (unless you go into sales), but it's very stable. It has it's consistency issues like most other big companies.
Advice to Senior Management
Develop more streamline communication between field operators and corporate offices. There can be a disconnect between corporate culture and field culture.
Pros
pay, people and education along with the fun that can be had
Cons
tough demands that always change along with the strain they put on their people ot atain goals that were never investigated that could truely be attained.
Advice to Senior Management
understand that it is people
