I have been working at AREA203 Digital full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Good people manage and work here and welcome new employees with open arms, seemingly well funded, nice office atmosphere with family focus.

    Cons

Services are not clearly defined or aligned with personnel's skill sets. This makes it difficult to sell and deliver anything that is of real tangible value to a customer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Assess your capabilities, define a market, and be realistic about your goals. Too much time is spent of philosophical BS and not enough spent on telling the customer exactly how you can help them get good ROI on an investment with you.

    Pros

It was work with a paycheck when it was needed.

    Cons

Payday loan business, religious missions, prayer groups, bible studies -- not disclosed during interview process.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Guess nothing at this point. Didn't they (finally) get shut down?

    Pros

The agency was just restructured and very positive things are happening. Good benefits, very flexible when you have something personal to do, and very supportive team. What you see is what you get. Before getting hired, employees are told the mission of the company, and the fact that it is based on Christian values. To the other posters here claiming how uncomfortable it was for them to see biblical verses on the walls... Why did you accept the position? If you hate Christian values and helping others, there are liberal organizations out there that would love to have you. For me, it is a great place to work! My overall experience was great, and will miss most of my fellow comrades.

    Cons

If you cherish your constitutional right to bear arms, this is not the place for you. Employees are not allowed to protect themselves on premises. Another negative aspect is that the company relies on IT support from a third party company that has no clue about IT. The word gross business negligence comes to mind. On the other hand, on-site IT support is fenomenal.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some people are extremely talented and pull their fair share, while others sit at their desk and consume oxygen for 8 hours. More accountability is necessary. Don't get rid of good employees, while at the same time reward employees who are harming the company.

    Pros

good pay for Chattanooga digital marketing positions

    Cons

it's really just the marketing arm of an online payday lender (Credit Payment Services, Inc.). it's owned by the online payday lender & that is all that you will actually work on. if you're OK with that, i'd say this place is for you but they will be closing soon as the government has already taken steps to shut down the online payday industry, which funds the company. so - they are effectively in a nose dive.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

polish up the resume's, if you don't get subpoenaed

    Pros

They know how to find and hire great talent. Unfortunately, they don't let these talented people do anything good, because they have no real clients other than the companies owned by the same owner as this company.

    Cons

Shady, unethical. For the reviewer titled "great mission, great people." when you say "restructured," you're talking about the layoffs over the last six months that happened to good people doing good work, right? These layoffs never happened though, according to the PR lead, when asked by the local papers. And the Christian thing was never once a part of the discussion in my several interviews with several people. Nothing was mentioned by the company until orientation, when the Chaplain arrived. Prospective employees are also not told that the majority of the work they will be doing are for the owner's other companies, most of which are several payday lending shams. Ethical is not in their vocabulary.

The higher ups gave up long ago and are only in it for the paycheck, which is quite obvious to the underlings left to do the actual work. Playing nerf basketball and video games in their office while the rest of the team works under ridiculous processes is how management operates here. Then they blame the underlings for the problems in the company. That strategy clearly doesn't work, because you have no clients to fall back on when the payday lending company goes down the tubes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Karma.

I have been working at AREA203 Digital full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fairly competitive salaries for the area.

    Cons

The President of AREA203 is also the CEO of the payday lending company that owns us, and is also our biggest/only client. This pretty much ensures a 100% chance of conflict-of-interests when dealing with non-payday client accounts....but not to worry because there are no clients. None. I'm serious.

Executives Management style tends to be "Scream!"

When "We've been investigated by the FTC twice" is a bragging point - you may wish to consider your other options before working here.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire your staff & put them out of their misery. You're embarrassing yourselves by still trying to pretend you're an agency & not the marketing arm of a payday lender.

I worked at AREA203 Digital full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

They are owned by a large payday loan player so they have good compensation plans if they feel you can contribute to the payday loan company. If you are extremely religious and extremely right winged you will fit in fine.

    Cons

This isn't a real agency, its just the marketing department of an extremely wealthy payday loan king. All of their clients are his companies. The client list on their site lists five companies that are not actual clients. If you don't fit in with the extremely religious and right winged views you will tend to feel uncomfortable. They have been trying for over two years to attract new clients and have not been able to do so because of the connection with the payday loan industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should be more honest with your employees and prospects and stop pretending you something you are clearly not.

    Pros

High pay, good experience, an all-around wonderful staff of highly talented people. Most sub-management workers know what they're doing, and are great industry resources for anyone looking to start a career in digital advertising.

    Cons

The place is a total sham. It's honestly one of the most overtly evil place you could imaging working. Even worse? There are almost no real clients. That's right, most of the work is done for affiliated companies. You won't get to learn, grow, and expand in the ways you would with a normal job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fire yourself.

    Pros

Compeitive pay, professional advancement opps, strong creative capabilities, diverse set of offerings, startup culture, great philanthropic mission

    Cons

Startups aren't for everyone. Lots of framework to build and foundational building blocks. Not a negative, but it's not for everyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More consistent communications. Digital and startup culture move so fast, communication is vital to survive.
