I worked at ARRIS (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you want an insight into circuits behind mother boards, you can consider this. Vast knowledge on hardware assembly that you can gain being part of this company.

    Cons

You need to spend tons of time wiring the boxes to setup the test case execution. Too much emphasis on physical layer.

    Advice to Management

Hardware software co-design is an interesting topic but that's not really the business Arris seems to be in. Consider separate assembly and physical setup unit so software guys focus on what they are really good at.

    Pros

Great camaraderie among the people who work there. Great work/life balance. Excellent benefits.

    Cons

Once Arris purchased it's last company it's culture changed and senior management didn't care. Employees became not as important as trying to make money. Management is either clueless or just doesn't care.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your employees.

    Cons

no good hiring no good salary... legacy products

    Advice to Management

if you are hiring indians please consider the following: a) check the reputation of the institute they studied in india b) check if they worked in product companies in india c) check their gate rank if they wrote gate. All the above means they are technically sound

    Pros

Good peer culture. Teams work well together.

    Cons

Management, poor decision making. No attention towards staff and needs. Provide no feedback for improvement. Confidentiality does not exist.

    Advice to Management

Start investing in your employees. Reward jobs well done. Partner with those who report to you. Keep confidential matters - confidential. (HR, Team Managers, Directors, VP) - Build people, don't keep them down.

I worked at ARRIS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall, I believe management has good intentions regarding employee satisfaction - but intent only takes you so far.

    Cons

Lousy raises despite being a top performer. People in upper management based on tenure and not skills, experience, or management abilities.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house and start fresh.

I worked at ARRIS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work pressure is acceptable. Good PTO policy. Work from home is available.

    Cons

Engineers are made responsible for everything. Managers/directors and above just fill their wallet. Company lacks focus and HR dept is a joke.

    Advice to Management

Look for a lean management and bring in some young talent. If you want to remain competitive you need to provide better benefits to your engineers.

I have been working at ARRIS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    work-life balance is good here.

    Cons

Like other reviewers mentioned, this company doesn't develop employees. This has a lot to do with the poor middle management (ie., Director, Sr. Director, and even VP) who are lack of leadership and direction. You could be told to do one thing and the decision was flipped in the next 20 minutes because another Sr. manager truncates the decision and your manager has no clue what his/her earlier instruction was.. they don't bother to explain you the changes either, because you are just a working bee here while they are not.

    Advice to Management

Learn to be a leader and care for your employee's career development rather than step up by using your staff's good performance
