I worked at ARRIS full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

An international Company with many opportunities

    Cons

Bureaucracy & not a leader, more of a follower

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Gid rid of middle management and get visionaries who are able to understand the customer and determine where the video market is going. You are always late to the game, and adding features upon features does not sell the product.

I have been working at ARRIS full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good salary and benefits. Decent management, employees are treated well.

    Cons

Dependent on a few large customers in the past which hurt them when the economy was bad. I think this has improved greatly in recent years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at ARRIS full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Freindly working environment, flexible hours and work space, business casual dress code, hiring managers who care about their employees, desire to improve, lot of opportunity!

    Cons

Recent merger has resulted in changes that while not monumental, will take time to adjust, because change is difficult no matter what kind.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work - your support, honesty, and open door is the key to why I'm here.

I worked at ARRIS full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Solid cable technology that defined the industry when it was GI, nice facility in Horsham, PA

    Cons

Original GI management (Ed Breen et al.) left years ago and with them the dynamics and leadership that built an industry. Motorola bought the place around 2000 and as long as they left it alone it was successful, when they started to interfere it went downhill. When Motorola was running with two highly compensated CEOs, the obscenely over-compensated meat puppet who was running the mobility side came in, accomplished nothing except selling it off and was hailed as a brilliant leader. Now it belongs to Arris and they laid off a lot of the people who were part of the core team. I assume it will be be purchased by Walmart in the near future, all engineers will be laid off and replaced with out-sourced part time labor until the national cable plant grinds to a halt at which point the executives will sadly grant themselves huge bonuses and blame the economy.

    Pros

Has a great name.Compensation is good. This is definitely something you'll want on your resume. Go for this if you can.

    Cons

Demanding job. The hours can be long, but the compensation is a good motivating factor. Management can be narrow minded.

    I worked at ARRIS full-time

    Pros

    Great people to work with.

    Cons

Lack of direction from Arris Corporate management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not enough thought was taken into the Motorola acquisition. Management didn't seem to have a plan in place before acquisition. The process of absorbing Motorola was probably too much for Arris to handle. There are too many good people who are left idle and not fully utilized to their potential. A waste of everyone's time.

    Pros

Great Benefits and talented co-workers in the field

    Cons

Management has little clue about how to bring this company to the next level. Demotivation, lack of vision, lack of direction, lack of professional skills handicap the talent in the field. Promises to clients but not capable of delivering.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
