    Pros

Great work environment with supportive friendly colleagues, extremely competitive salary, amazing benefits on the healthcare/401k side.

    Cons

Little room for advancement; a bit passive aggressive on the management side; some people stay in their jobs 20, 30 plus years.

    Advice to Management

Don't take junior employees for granted

    Pros

Competitive salaries, people are nice, work is moderately-paced, and the average salaried workday is a reasonable 7.5 hours, with only a very occasional need for overtime. The location of the HQ is also excellent, within walking distance to the metro and surrounded by great places to eat lunch. Also, showers/gym are on site.

    Cons

IT is more serious about security than most employers, so computers are pretty locked down. Up until 4th quarter 2014, the only browser allowed was IE. Now we can use a limited mostly feature-free version of chrome. However, IT is good at fixing problems, so this inconvenience is not as bad as it sounds.

    Advice to Management

There's no need to direct IT to have top-notch security. ASIS is not a security organization -- it's a membership organization for security people. There's nothing wrong with allowing IT to go with the industry standard for security among membership organizations instead of insisting that ASIS be measured against the standard of companies that need high security. Maintaining such a high level of security is not useful, as ASIS is not a high value target, and that much security degrades the everyday efficacy of employees.

    Pros

-Unbeatable benefits programs -Competitive Salary -Easy access to public transportation -Fun and energetic work environment -On-site gym and shower facilities -Lots of inter-company/extra-curricular activities -Opportunity for career growth within the company (as made apparent with a recent wave of younger, tech-saavy staff hires - including myself)

    Cons

-IT restricts a lot of aspects of browser interface that you would normally not think about (like 'compatibility mode' for IE)

    Advice to Management

Continue with the shift to digital platforms as a means for reaching our member-base. Achieve digital success by continuing to replenish the work-force with younger, fresh, digital-minded professionals. ASIS has a great opportunity to expand its brand across all mediums.
