Great Job to Get you back on your feet

    Proxy Solicitation Agent (Former Employee)
    Lyndhurst, NJ

ProsIt's an easy job that pays pretty well, and offers lot of overtime during their peak times. If you are willing to work the hours, you can easily take home 700+ a week. It is a temp job, so you do have to prepare yourself for times when they will lay you off, but if you work hard it won't go unnoticed and they will call you back when it picks up again. IF your unemployed, and down on hard times, this is a great job to get you back on your feet. The job entails talking to stockholders, reading a script verbatim and getting the stockholder to vote on their proxies. Time goes fast, and if you do what you are asked, for the most part management will not bother you.

ConsOccasionally Management can be a little overbearing and immature. But not to the point that you feel used or abused. Take it with a grain of salt and just keep doing your job, you'll be fine. There is a lot of gossip going on, so try to just mind to yourself and don't get to personal with anyone. You will make friends due to the proximity of how close everyone is, but just be careful with your opinions, because you never know who is friends with who, and anything you say can be misconstrued and end up on the managements desk.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou should make your good longterm employees permanent.

    Corporate sweatshop (Lyndhurst, NJ)

    Client Services Representative (Former Employee)
    Lyndhurst, NJ

ProsReally difficult to think of ANY positives - one or two floor managers were helpful when needed.

ConsManagers were the most ridiculous, overbearing, controlling and incompetent group of people I had the misfortune of "working" with. If you are not a manager, expect to be conditions like a slave-master would their herd. Managerial staff at call center completely ego driven and have very little professional business skills.

Advice to Senior ManagementRestructure from the top down because I never seen such unprofessional conduct in a corporate setting...truly disgraceful

    LIKE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

    Customer Service Representative (Former Employee)
    Lyndhurst, NJ

ProsGood starting pay and lots of overtime available for those who can take advantage of it. Good central location for getting to work in a fairly short drive.

ConsTerrible management, poor training, poor QA sessions and employees are treated like school children. The team leads make the same pay as the customer service reps and management constantly threatens you with getting written up and being fired. It's really just a telemarketing job which is in itself easy to do. That would be fine if you didn't have to deal with management's out of control power trip. It doesn't matter how professional and respectful you are. You get told you will be written up for everything including saying hi to another employee as you pass by or sitting the wrong way. QA also deducts huge amounts of points from your call reviews if you say things like hello or goodbye or even okay. They have people stand and guard the aisles like prison guards. No self respecting adult who ever held a decent job would put up with that kind of nonsense and will not last no matter how hard you try. One day I heard a woman's voice bellowing over the team leads walkie talkies "Write up everyone who is not wearing their badge around their neck".

Advice to Senior ManagementHire responsible adults and treat them like responsible adults. Not school children.

A good job for someone with good work ethic.

    Toplister/Team Leader (Current Employee)
    Lyndhurst, NJ

ProsHigh starting pay with advancements for people who work hard.
Loads of overtime available during peak seasons.
Flexible with work schedule if you have something to take care of or an emergency.
If you work hard you can be promoted to different positions.

ConsDuring slow seasons it's a short work week where sometimes you a little under 40 hours.
They change the seating chart a lot so don't get to comfortable with your office partner.
Break times change depending on where your sitting. 10:15 12:30 breaks can be rough when you start at 9:00

Advice to Senior ManagementHave quality assurance go easier on new agents.
Allow open seating or a more consistent seating chart instead of always moving people around.

Company that uses people until they meet their quota and then fire you!

    Proxy Solicitation Agent (Former Employee)
    Lyndhurst, NJ

ProsPay was pretty good for what the job is. To start they pay decent amount.

ConsOnce they are done meeting their requirements they lay off 90% of the people. 150+ people working between day and night shift and after two week were left with 20. They tell you its temp to full time and that the job is a few months but really from various people that got the boot like I did its about 2-4 weeks max. They say they will call you back in a few weeks if you were laid off but almost immediately you can see their ads on craigslist.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't lie to people in regards to how long the employment really is, the best thing you can is tell them an estimated time of how long they will be around so they can plan their LIFE around the time they will have. Its almost best not to take the position because of the non existing job security.

    Unprofessional sweat shop

    Customer Service (Former Employee)
    Lyndhurst, NJ

ProsHonestly none .. ok there is one, the building has ample parking spots

Cons90% of managers have major attitudes, highly critical micro management, work environment is awful with temperatures up and down, need to ask permission to use the bathrooms, only allowed to drink water at the desks, no cell phones allowed, strict enforcement of break times, pay is low for CSR, training program awful, no opportunity to advance, equipment and furniture old and nasty. Never seen anything so disastrous in terms of professionalism and corporate culture. Not worth it

A Job Today, Literally Gone Tomorrow

    Customer Service (Current Employee)
    Lyndhurst, NJ

ProsCompetitive Hourly Rate for the economy
    Convenient to highways
Opportunity for overtime when it's busy

ConsLayoffs with no real notice when it slows down
    Insufficient training
Quality Assurance teams deducts points for leaving off a letter on a word.
    Employees are not valued

Advice to Senior ManagementOffer more training to your temporary employees so that there are less chances for mistakes made on calls, and less audits as a result. Provide more notice when the work is obviously drying up instead of giving "busy work" out in the mean time.
