I have been working at AST Fund Solutions full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great opportunity for making easy money (up to $1400 a week pre-taxes when there's open overtime). If you can follow a script, read/speak proper English, and learn proper use of the rebuttals, then you'll do well on the job. Do well at your assigned task, come to work every day and on time, and sign up for weekends when offered. Management is very flexible when it comes to scheduling around school, other jobs, etc. New office location is massive and beautiful in comparison to the previous location in Lyndhurst.

    Cons

Training is too short and rushed to be of much use anymore, and the trainers seem far too unprepared when new classes come in, wasting everyone's valuable time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to reward their long-term temporary employees with better pay, or hire them as permanent employees more often. Training needs to be completely overhauled with better staff and materials, extended training time and more involved role-playing. Criminal background checks with drug-testing are a norm at most corporate offices, and AST (a financial services company) should be no exception to the practice.

    Pros

$13.00 hr, and at least a check.

    Cons

Not professional, and you're only brought on for a two to three week period, then told that you're laid off.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get the one or two checks, and find something else.

    Pros

Meeting new people, camaraderie and networking

    Cons

Reading the proposals exactly as scripted and not deviate from it & to get the Shareholders/
Stockholders to vote on the proposals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't wait 3 months later to review, correct, criticize Agents. Must tell them right away
what they are doing wrong. Nepotism should not be allowed

Great Job to Get you back on your feet

I worked at AST Fund Solutions full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It's an easy job that pays pretty well, and offers lot of overtime during their peak times. If you are willing to work the hours, you can easily take home 700+ a week. It is a temp job, so you do have to prepare yourself for times when they will lay you off, but if you work hard it won't go unnoticed and they will call you back when it picks up again. IF your unemployed, and down on hard times, this is a great job to get you back on your feet. The job entails talking to stockholders, reading a script verbatim and getting the stockholder to vote on their proxies. Time goes fast, and if you do what you are asked, for the most part management will not bother you.

    Cons

Occasionally Management can be a little overbearing and immature. But not to the point that you feel used or abused. Take it with a grain of salt and just keep doing your job, you'll be fine. There is a lot of gossip going on, so try to just mind to yourself and don't get to personal with anyone. You will make friends due to the proximity of how close everyone is, but just be careful with your opinions, because you never know who is friends with who, and anything you say can be misconstrued and end up on the managements desk.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should make your good longterm employees permanent.

I have been working at AST Fund Solutions full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

High starting pay with advancements for people who work hard.
Loads of overtime available during peak seasons.
Flexible with work schedule if you have something to take care of or an emergency.
If you work hard you can be promoted to different positions.

    Cons

During slow seasons it's a short work week where sometimes you a little under 40 hours.
They change the seating chart a lot so don't get to comfortable with your office partner.
Break times change depending on where your sitting. 10:15 12:30 breaks can be rough when you start at 9:00

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have quality assurance go easier on new agents.
Allow open seating or a more consistent seating chart instead of always moving people around.

    Pros

Really difficult to think of ANY positives - one or two floor managers were helpful when needed.

    Cons

Managers were the most ridiculous, overbearing, controlling and incompetent group of people I had the misfortune of "working" with. If you are not a manager, expect to be conditions like a slave-master would their herd. Managerial staff at call center completely ego driven and have very little professional business skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Restructure from the top down because I never seen such unprofessional conduct in a corporate setting...truly disgraceful

I worked at AST Fund Solutions as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Good starting pay and lots of overtime available for those who can take advantage of it. Good central location for getting to work in a fairly short drive.

    Cons

Terrible management, poor training, poor QA sessions and employees are treated like school children. The team leads make the same pay as the customer service reps and management constantly threatens you with getting written up and being fired. It's really just a telemarketing job which is in itself easy to do. That would be fine if you didn't have to deal with management's out of control power trip. It doesn't matter how professional and respectful you are. You get told you will be written up for everything including saying hi to another employee as you pass by or sitting the wrong way. QA also deducts huge amounts of points from your call reviews if you say things like hello or goodbye or even okay. They have people stand and guard the aisles like prison guards. No self respecting adult who ever held a decent job would put up with that kind of nonsense and will not last no matter how hard you try. One day I heard a woman's voice bellowing over the team leads walkie talkies "Write up everyone who is not wearing their badge around their neck".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire responsible adults and treat them like responsible adults. Not school children.
