Pros

Cons

Advice to Senior Management
Wake up.
Pros
Excellent people in lower management and at the line maintenance and flying positions. Once a proud organization, a leader in the overnight transport business. Now a shell of its former self in the US.
Cons
Senior management has been unable to correctly plan for the future issues the company faces in the industry. As a result competitors have taken away business and now the company has been reduced to the point of insignificance.
Advice to Senior Management
Plan for the future by investing some of the money they make from guaranteed contracts in newer and more efficient equipment. View your people as assets and communicate with them about the future and include them in mapping out a plan.
Pros
Good pay and benefits. It was a place to have a career. not anymore.
Cons
DHL is Astar Air Cargo's primary customer and is going with other air cargo companies to move their product.
Advice to Senior Management
It is too bad you did not try to get other cargo business.
Pros
Being a Pilot for a overnight express airline is very clean and clear cut when compared to flying for a passenger carrier. You are flying the same equipment with different loads behind the cockpit door. Pay was good and schedule was good also.
Cons
Working nights can take its toll on you health if you do not take good care of yourself. Upper management made no effort to modernize the fleet to remain competitive. This has caused the work to go to other competitors and the airline been downsized to just a fraction of is original size.
Advice to Senior Management
You can not expect a company to remain competitive or thrive if all you want is to skim off profits and not reinvest in a the future with a plan.
Pros
Pay better than most airlines.
Cons
We're going out of business.
Advice to Senior Management
