Pros
Good Salary. Good Technologies. Lots of upper level management experience. Good perks of the company i.e. discounts for services, etc.
Cons
Transition from Bellsouth to at&t was rough and lost a lot of culture and consideration for the customer. Since my departure I have heard it has gotten better but can't vouch for that..
Advice to Senior Management
Invest internally to make the processes easier so that individuals can do their jobs properly. It shouldn't take more time internally to process and order than it does to sell!
Pros
Cell phone provided by the company, reasonable hourly pay which raises .50 every 6 months, seasonal allotment from Land's End toward uniforms.
Cons
High pressure and at times very chaotic working environment. Demanding customers. The sales goals keep going up without matching the actual conversion in our store so we aren't able to make decent money on our commission checks. No time off during the holiday season but this is retail so it goes with the territory.
Advice to Senior Management
The departments need to be able to communicate easier and be knowledgeable of what can and cannot be completed in the store. Too often customer service sends customers into the store with problems which should have been handled by the customer service rep over the phone. In many cases they tell customers they have to go into the store to resolve an issue yet it's something we don't have the authorization or ability to do. Obviously we then have an upset customer on our hands who feels they've been given the run around.
Pros
meet many different types of people, learn how to sell better, good opportunity for advancement
Cons
too large a company, inside information hard to attain, retail hours
Advice to Senior Management
more transparency
Pros
Flexibility In work from home.
Cons
Salary not on par with other companies
Advice to Senior Management
Competitive salaries
Pros
1). Competent professionals. I continue to be impressed with the caliber of my team and leadership.
2). Interesting work. I appreciate the challenges I face daily.
3). Fair pay/benefits. I feel that the compensation package is fair for the work I do.
Cons
1). Pure size of company. It's difficult to not just be a "number" in this sort of environment.
2). Promotional opportunites can be difficult to find. However, as with anything else in life, it's up to "you" to make opportunties, if you want 'em.
Advice to Senior Management
I appreciate the efforts our leadership is making to make the team feel involved in the direction of the company.
Pros
Some of the benefits would be health care, savings/pension plans, name recognition, some control over your earnings, union represented
Cons
They are currently misleading new reps regarding salary expectations.
Advice to Senior Management
Set realistic expectations for sales results
Pros
Our products touch peoples lives every day, every where they live, work and play.
Cons
Some of the processes are extremely bureaucratic and keep the company from moving quickly.
Advice to Senior Management
Remove redundancy and truly embrace the One AT&T efforts.
Pros
Comeraderie, training, salary, benefits. Y
Cons
Micromanagement is the watchword, yet I never met my boss, who worked in Tampa. They would lay awake at night thinking of ways not to pay our commissions. I never felt valued as an employee. AT&T was transparent though, I knew I was working on borrowed time and I was lucky, 2 years to the day, 12/31/2008 I officially separated from AT&T. Got the old Bellsouth package, so yay me!
Advice to Senior Management
Trying to put the phone company back together isn't really working. Having 17 diferent systems and a diparate workforce only frustrates customers.
Pros
Decent benefits (though getting less so)
OK pay (not best, not worst)
Flexible hours (in my position. This does not apply to everyone)
Cons
AT&T is a huge step backward from BellSouth. Its like the Flintstones bought the Jetsons. AT&T's practices and procedures in many ways resemble the way BellSouth was doing business in the 90's.
Little chance for advancement (in my position.) When a position becomes available (as it did recently) preference given to out-of-state candidate when there are promotable and capable candidates locally.
Employees distrust upper management's motives. Recent events in my organization have left most employees wondering if management is looking for ways to downsize without having to pay severance, unemployment, etc.
Advice to Senior Management
Value your employees. They are your best asset and can make or break you. Simply talking the talk doesn't cut it. Live your values. Then and only then might we be able to truly compete with Verizon.
Pros
Interesting work, opportunities for different positions
Cons
They have just realigned us as non exempt and we must clock in and out. Overtime must be approved. Feel like a rep not a manager.
Advice to Senior Management
Make us exempt again
