I worked at AT&T as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

    great pay

wonderful people to work with and learn from

    Cons

Thrown to wolves a little bit. My managers were already busy with other projects and came up with a project for me and another to complete for the semester. They didnt offer much assistance. The was no program set up to get us up to speed on the programs and things that are used. The first couple of weeks were self study of a few programming languages and hadoop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Formal training needed for students coming in to use the tools more effectively.

I have been working at AT&T part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

With AT&T, the pay is great. There is also a lot of opportunities for career advancement and growth potential.

    Cons

With AT&T as an intern, there is not much of work flexibility. The work or task at hand is always specific to the division you work for and does not provide a chance to contribute in other areas.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Flexibility, Promotion,Work-life balance, Discounts Training and VO.

    Cons

    Communication, Compensation,Leadership, Culture and Bonus

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is always a problem. i've been in 4 different positions with this company. If you start at the bottom, the company will not give you a competitive salary. The bonus could be better. I do love the flexibility of my job being able to work from a lot. The discounts with att help lower my expenses by using their services. Person growth is def a plus.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

Immediate supervisor was very conscious of work-life balance. Encouraged teleworking on a discretionary basis.Ample budget to implement diverse market programs.

    Cons

2nd level managers we still 'classic corporate' unwilling to step too far outside of the box to enhance presence across various marketing channels, stifling creativity. Teams were very segmented and disconnected.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

clearer definition of role and expectations.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Flexibility. Technology is awesome because you use the latest and greatest tools/software.

    Cons

Office bureaucracy . High level management never tells you specifically what there end game is. That makes you question the decisions that appear to make no sense at all.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you're over a technical group and not technically savvy, allow your team to do their work without the awful technical advice that you're not qualified to give.

I worked at AT&T as a contractor (less than a year)

    Pros

I was dealing specifically with their "innovation group" which was closely associated with the Foundry. They were looking towards the future in a big way and looking to leverage the passion of hungry entrepreneurs and devs. The overall process was pretty straight forward and painless. The biggest thing you'll want to be able to do here show some measure of an mvp or prototype.

    Cons

The process took longer than it should've. Unfortunately when dealing with large organizations like AT&T it takes forever for them to make a decision. Until they can get to decisions faster they'll continue to lose out on a lot of opportunities to innovate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put processes in place that allow you to make decisions faster. While your're eternally mulling over whether or not to pull the trigger hungry technologists are out there making it happen for your competitors. If you want to win in the innovation space move faster, be willing to fail, and learn from those decisions. Innovation is iterative.
