I have been working at AT&T part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The hours are flexible if you're working part time, tuition reimbursement, and easy goals

    Cons

Unrealistic ideas and positioning of products. Managers are unqualified and barely know how to take care of themselves, let alone a team of sales personnel.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on customer experience within the stores.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They pay is great. Training is really informative as far as selling techniques. Benefits are solid. Great stepping stone.

    Cons

This company started off as a great opportunity and I absolutely loved coming to work everyday. In my area the restructured the management and its constant micro managing to the point where it is unbearable to work. I have had 7 managers store and assistant in the last 10 months. They seem to no longer promote from with in. If your numbers are good it doesn't matter if they are not done literally word for word the way they want it to be said. They are forcing the senior consults to leave because "they won't be on board with the new sales habits and direction of the company" I'm incredibly let down from the company it was to what it has become.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the employees and go beyond the area manager and have one on ones with the employees to find out exactly what is going on in your stores. Some of it is down right sickening.

    I worked at AT&T part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-The money is good. Once you get a good grasp of AT&T's products and services, you can make a lot of money in commission. The commission works on a tier structure once you hit your goals for the month. There is a 'sweet spot' in the commission structure where payout becomes rapidly advanced. Hitting this spot should be your goal every month. -There is opportunity to grow in the company. My market has seen a very high turnover of managers, and as such there are many assistant manager positions open.

    Cons

-Work/Life balance is non-existent. Be prepared to work every weekend, long hours, and late nights. Especially if you end up in a mall location. Getting time off is not easy. PTO must be requested by the 5th of the preceding month. No exceptions are made. This is understandable for predictable absences like vacations and birthdays, but no understanding is given for parents of sick children, or personal illness. -Managers (store level and above) talk to sales reps as if they are inferior people. Had a manager go so far as to tell a co-worker 'I am better than you, I'm a manager.' They seem to have lost sight of the fact that we are all people. Simply having been promoted once or twice does not make you better. Management also seems reluctant to acknowledge the good their employees do. Only focusing on the bad.

    Advice to Management

-Your employees are people too. Treating people with respect will make your employees more loyal and make them want to work harder for you. -Give some understanding that things come up in people's lives. Maybe a portion of PTO that is set aside for emergencies. Something that can be used when a child, or the employee are sick in order to not have to use points.

    Pros

Great pay and benefits. Uniform allowance is great and discounted services and devices.

    Cons

Long hours, crazy managers, scamming customers to keep your job. Too much office politics.

    Advice to Management

Relax! Reps are doing the best they can. Also, some managers need to work on their people skills.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pay was OK. Discount on TV, Internet and Wireless. Simple job.

    Cons

Management turnover rate in southern Ohio is a joke. I had 5 different store managers in a span of 11 months. Long hours. Management inst looking to make you better. They are note takers, looking for any reason to write you up. They stand over your shoulder while you work with customers and then take down every thing you do wrong, not right. No way you're going to move up in the company unless your best friends with the area managers. Lots of that in southern Ohio.

    Advice to Management

Stop putting so much pressure on managers to fire all your employees. When you do that, you put yourself in the situation you're in now, where you have to offer a $500 sign on bonus just to get reps. The word is out: No one wants to work for you.

    Pros

I cannot think of any pros's. It's a large company and if you do what they say, even if it's morally wromg, you'll be able to keep your job

    Cons

Very degrading to employees. M gt is very disrespectfull. The union is pathetic. Pay sucks.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Better than average, maybe even great benefits -- especially if you have a union job. Are there opportunities to move up? Sure, if you want to play the game.

    Cons

This is an old company that hasn't really kept up with the times as far as how they run things. Many jobs are like working in a factory, with a "punch the clock" kind of feel, even if you're on salary. Middle management is weak at best. Upper management is comfortable. If you want good training, you have to seek it out. What they provide you is average.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your people. Drop the ego. Look at the big picture rather than daily numbers or other short term things.
