I worked at AT&T full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great pay. You are compensated very well. Hourly is very competitive with other retail jobs in the area, but the bonus is that you also get commission on top of it. I knew coworkers that made around 70k+ a year. That's really good for a non management retail position.

    Cons

Bad hours if you have a family. To make good commission you HAVE to work nights and weekends. Constant pressure to make sales quotas. Some managers force you to bend selling rules in order to make quotas. I ultimately left the company because I was not comfortable treating customers the way I was being asked to do. It's all about hitting quota.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Care about customers.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, ever changing, potential to move up.

    Cons

Managers have lost most perks, pay trends below market standards, there seems to be a break down of work life balance for managers, benefits cost more for managers.

Working in a call center environment is both fast-paced and intense. You have to be both caring and diplomatic.

    Cons

The management at the time of my employment were not willing to work with my schedule to accommodate my school schedule.

Pay is competitive for the areas
Vacation time is better than most

    Cons

Placed on a permanent "black list" if you leave for another higher paying opportunity
Not many other opportunities on the government contracting side of at&t

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the "black list" for those that left the company in good standing.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay and benefits are good, the amount of vacation you get is a plus. The longer you work with the company the more vacation you get. You can become fully vested in the 401k after 3 years of service.

    Cons

Like anywhere, you are going to have you're problems. The things that happen that are major issues seem to take a back seat to the smaller issues. Smaller issues tend to be blown out of proportion.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually listen to other employees, when you come to visit where you are responsible for at least make an effort to visit the employees and talk with them instead of just the higher up's.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

    pay and benefits,and thats it

    Cons

micromanaging by alot of folks trying to justify there jobs

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

ive got an idea, let the customer facing employees take care of the business and maybe spend a little less time watching the clocks, and you should read the code of business ethics every month like we have to

  9.

Don't expect life balance! Do expect your commission to drop every April when the structure changes!

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Discount for 2 lines of phone service.
    No physical stress.
    Co-worker relationships.
    Nice, clean stores.
    Best training in the industry.
    Good communication from corporate.

    Cons

Commission structure changes every April- and it drops every April.
    Attendance policy is completely unreasonable.
There is no price match policy that makes sense. You will lose customers to WalMart.
Accessories cost way too much- see above WalMart comment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are so many things we are evaluated on that it is impossible to feel successful. ATT spends tremendous money tracking stupid metrics that don't really matter. Managers need to be on the floor.
