Pros
good pay, good benefits, good sales compensation,
Cons
long works days 8 to 7 pm, forced 6 days and overtime, sales compensation is almost gone, they control your time and life, plus you get really difficult angry customers complaining about their bills and then you have to try to sell them stuff
Advice to Senior Management
not to take comp out, he would save some money if he let the sales people go home early if they meet 150% of their daily objective
Pros
The folks that have spent years of their lives striving to make the local phone service the best in the world. As a whole, the craft and lower level managers are dedicated to both work and their commnuity.
Cons
1st level managers have become cannon fodder for upper management's hunt for extra profits. Some 1st level managers are making a choice between paying for prescribed medication or making a house payment. We are required to work extra hours and stand duty for no pay, so it ends up we are making less than the folks we manage.
Advice to Senior Management
You are on the verge of losing an entire group of previously dedicated people.
Pros
Salary & Benefits are a major draw. If you have the self disipline to work alone and enjoy working ouside, this is the place to be. The company provides all the tools and training, if you don't make it, you have no one to blame but yourself
Cons
Company cares more about the stock holders return on investment than the employees and customers. As a public utility, you are expected to be at work EVERY scheduled day. Sick days do not exist.
Advice to Senior Management
BellSouth was #1 in customer service for years. Why didn't AT&T learn from what was done right in the Southeast before we were forced to do it the SBC way?
Pros
benefits. job security. looks good on resumé
Cons
working for AT&T has given me ulcers. I understand that most companies only care abpout their bottom line, but AT&T's greed is too blunt. this company will suck the life out of you and turn you into a zombie. it is always AT&T first, secind and third...your family or your personal life is irrelevant. dont work there is not worth the agrevation
Advice to Senior Management
stop being so greedy. stop treating your employees as if they're worthless, your employees also have families and lifes , stop treating them as just a number.
