Pros
-Compensation is great for the summer intern position
-You choose how much you want to learn
-Flexibility
Cons
-No direction, you have to create your own path to learn.
Advice to Senior Management
Doing a great job!
Pros
Pay is decent, benefits are okay, they give you a free phone with unlimited everything if you work in a retail location.
Cons
Insurance is the worst I have had since I was first employed at 18, managers change almost every 6 months, there is no room for relationship building and networking to advance your professional career. Even though you do the job of a manager, you will never be looked at for the actual role until you do a sales role first.
Advice to Senior Management
Take more time to carefully interview and select your management team. It is unprofessional for all of the sales staff to outlast 4 managers in the last 2 years, that never should have been hired in the first place.
Pros
-Great Base salary raises I started in 2006 at 16.60 per hour and over a four year period I ended at 27.66 hourly
-If you work hard and over-exceed your quota you will be awarded with a free trip at the end of the year
Cons
-The manager you have will determine if you survive in this company
-No work life balance they work you like a dog mandatory overtime
-not only are you required to meet quotas but also, adherence, and surveys, you literally have to ask to attend the bathroom, if you have a bladder problem then this job is not for you
-you sales are on a day to day basis you could have had an awesome day yesterday but if your performance is not the same or better you will be coached or your manager would make you feel as though yesterday does not matter.
-Turnover rate is ridiculous because now they are hiring employees with 60%pay and 40% commission and paying them base $10 per hour
-Last there is no way to keep up with what you sell and the commission sucks if you don't switch to 60-40, who can blame us for not wanting to switch especially when u cannot keep up with what you sell and your adherence and customer surveys determines the percentage of your check which is all a scam not to pay you what you worked so hard for ...
Advice to Senior Management
-Please stop trying to get rid of your veteran reps just to hire new employees to pay them less it for well payed employees take care of customers.
-Please divide customer service/billing from sales because its hard for sales associates to focus on billing disputes when their manager is breathing down their neck to SELL SELL SELL....
-PAY ALL your sales associate great commission or-else we will not be motivated to sell
-Allow Overtime to be a choice not a command whereas you can loose your job for not doing overtime
Pros
Good deals on phones, good customer service
Cons
Management hard to work with at times
Advice to Senior Management
More training to managment
Pros
Decent pay. Top sales contributors do receive good pay.
Cons
This is a sales job that is mostly a customer service job. AT&T does not separate the two so every phone call you receive is considered a sales call. The majority of calls are from customers who complain about why there phone bill is so high, and why they have long distance. You are expected to resolve their requests and some how magically convince them to buy something they don't have such as direct tv. Call center atmosphere is hostile, managers micro manage and fail to work with you on solutions.
Advice to Senior Management
Separate customer service and sales into their own departments.
Pros
As a craft employee (non-mgt), year 1-5 will offer raises every 6 month till you top off @ max pay. @ 5th year. Good salary, benefits, 401k, vision, vacation 2 wks a year, when you hit your 7th year you get 3 wks vac..you also get 8 paid personnal days. DEPENDING, on which dept. you work in, will depend HEAVILY on how your time at AT&T will go. Construction & Engineering have been having layoffs for the past 1 1/2 yrs. They are now surplusing FT's w/over 10yrs exp...and the ST's (service tech) w/over 6 yrs exp. so you either lose your job!!! or if you an FT you possibly get surplused over to the Install/ Maint. Dept....No layoff there yet..AT&T has laid off hundreds of employees in the last 1 1/2. Upper MGT. says due to (Quote unquote) technological changes, and the poor economy.
Cons
OMG..there are alot...again depending on the dept. you end up in will Greatly influence your time w/this company!!. They ONLY care about the numbers....Your 1st. level supervisor (although some of them are good people)--(there are alot that are just complete jerks) This co. has soo many ridiculous ways they measure your perfomance. They are trying to lay more & more people off. If you don't make your #'s for a month they will write you up, any accidents now, forget it You will always (mostly) be made @ fault, and your'e fired.
The service tech's and us in cable repair are forced to work extra jobs almost everyday, and they will ride you like crazy. The Prem-tech jobs are even worse. They have a huge turnover rate. Almost everyone hates working here now & they do the absolute minimum. There is such a dislike towards upper Mgt. The only thing AT&T cares about now is their U-Verse they're tring to push. IF we're working on another reg. cust. ex. Dsl is out & a U-verse trouble comes in they will pull us off of the 1st. job to put us on the U-Verse. we then have to lie to the 1st. cust about why we have to leave. The employees are mostly all good people. But, AT&T as a company is going down fast. They dont want a const. dept. Or the people that work their including the service tech's and the Outside Plant Tech's (OPT's). This is from an employee with over 12 years experience. It wasn't always this bad.
Advice to Senior Management
We don't need to keep laying off people. AT&T is making Billions per month.
Nothing I say here is going to chg.upper Mgts. mind. so I say this.....Keep on doing what you're doing...because you are your own worst enemy. You are destroying a good company, & believe me (US) the employees--the backbone of the company who deal everyday with customers in person notice,,,,we all see what is coming. It's a shame to even see upper mgt's salaries...what a joke Stephenson.
Pros
The pay was very good
Cons
constant change with management philosophy
Advice to Senior Management
Stop the extreme micro management
Pros
Good benefits, pay was good, just too stressful and micromanagement.
Cons
Management does not care about their employees. They will terminate you no matter how long you have been there. Former employees of Bellsouth even say they HATE the way AT&T runs the business. These old timers hag in to retire.
Advice to Senior Management
Be human - stop focusing on taking advantage of the people than can only afford a basic line and sell them. Or push a client to say they want to cancel to send them to the SAVES dept.
Pros
the company has a solid history with a decent salary and a fantastic benefits package with a paid training program
Cons
no job security whatsoever the turnover rate is astronomical, unrealistic goals set by management with very little knowledge of the day to day operations, very little guidance
Advice to Senior Management
management should try learning the day to day operations first hand to get a real feel of what will work in terms of healthy employee and customer relations
Pros
You can move up quickly
Commissions are pretty good
Benefits are phenomenal
Cons
To many metrics to meet to get properly compensated.
