    I worked at AT&T full-time

    Pros

Best communications company to work for in the industry. Great executive leadership team, clear vision, best tools to get the job done, generous compensation including benefits, pension, 401K and world-class retail environment.

    Cons

very little work/life balance. Demands 70-80 hours a week no matter how much they tell you it doesn't. Sales expectations are always high and heavy accountability for missing targets. Very hard to move past the Level 1 management position even with a degree and successful track record.

    Advice to Management

The business is full of baby-boomer management who is hanging on to their mid-level management jobs because they have it made and aren't being challenged by the director level leadership above them. It leaves little room for advancement into those positions. I don't blame them, because they have it made with little to no accountability, but it is ultimately the reason why I left.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great commission before the comp plan was changed. It is a fun job if you have the right management team.

    Cons

Commission plan constantly changes yearly and reduces commission amount. Some managers will not be good and that's because they promote off of numbers and not people skills.

    Advice to Management

Coach effectively and listen to your people.

    I worked at AT&T full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - always on leading edge of technology - serves the priority accounts & government sectors extremely well

    Cons

    - expensive for the mid-major and small markets - the residence sector strategy is undefined / all over the map - made a major mistake in forcing out the 50+ age group... The majority of the young managers don't know what they don't know - still great angst in understanding the Customer's value is never in the network or the hardware.

    Advice to Management

hire more senior leadership at the line and mid levels

    I have been working at AT&T full-time

    Pros

This is a good career opportunity, coming in on the ground floor. Be prepared to come to work early, because safety and timeliness are 2 major items of concern. But, keep your eyes open for opportunity, because you can go anywhere in the company once you put in your time. The training and resources are there if you make time to take advantage of it.

    Cons

The hours will take some getting used to. From waking up early, to working (once you are out of training) until late into the night during peak periods, you are expected to be ready to work at least 30 minutes ahead of your start time. Did I mention that being late is a main reason why people are fired? That, and safety violations.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Autonomy, interesting work, making a difference, work from home, decent benefits, respected in telecom community.

    Cons

Job not as stable as advertised. Position is being eliminated as part of Path to 2020. Consider a smaller company before choosing this job!

    Advice to Management

Adapt to change and be more engaged in retaining employees instead of letting HR mandate.
