I worked at AT&T full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay was $17/hr + commission. Free insurance. But they owe your that since you're selling your soul.

    Cons

Being honest and selling at the same time was very difficult. Downtown parking $4 each day!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hurry and get out while you still have your soul.

horrible outdated management and pushy sales, complete disregard for the customer

Former Employee - Customer Service Representative

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    the pay is pretty good

    Cons

constant managers in your face, you can never make all the inflated objectives unless you're unscrupulous, forget flexibility or letting people go to the bathroom, or actual regard for the customer

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

listen to reps on the surveys we fill out, we try to do the best for customers but it isn't what is really wanted, the objectives are not realistic and just so people in upper management can pat themselves on the back.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A few co-workers & a few select managers, were very caring and made it fun working there.

    Cons

Office completely full of office politics & favoritism. To have managers and trainers with preferred employees is just wrong and to make sure their orders and call times are going the right way, because "they" choose the ones that they want to see succeed, just wrong. Also, if you are at your desk with your phone set plugged into your phone, any one listening in on the managers side can listen in on all of your conversations, EVERYTHING is RECORDED, just wrong.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To run the office in a professional manner, not like a ZOO! No opportunity for moving up at all, because the office politics has already selected the ones they want to see succeed.

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Co workers at least for now. Good customers too. Just scared for the future.. decent enough pay. Good benefits.

    Cons

Intense sales pressure and hourly coaching and monitoring. Customers are only seen as "marks" to be sold to or to be tricked or manipulated. I feel very much like a used acar salesperson.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more holistic and professional.. used to be a decent employer but not anymore.

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits, good 401k and decent corporate culture. Employee union does well to try and protect from manager abuses.

    Cons

Xtreme micromanaging to an unfathomable point, only brown nosers getting promoted and hardworkers over looked. Middle management always looking to fire someone to cover up their own mistakes. Very quick to believe every baseless customer complaints.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on quality employees and try to lower employee churn. Best sales people dont always make the best managers.

    Pros

    Benefits
    Techs look out for each.

    Cons

    No work/life balance.
No schedule you can count on.
Managers are inept and unavailable when you need them for an issue, but then manager says why didn't you call me?
Company treats their employees like garbage.
    VERY demoralizing.
    Impossible numbers game.
Disciplined on matters out of your control.
Training is a joke. There isn't any real life scenarios they can give you in a mock home.
    Micro managed to an EXTREME.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop putting posts up so you can lure more people into the vacuum you call a career.
Start treating your employees better you will get more out of them if you stopped mistreating them.

Former Employee - Retail Sales Consultant

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Once you have seniority scheduling will possibly get better depending on your manager. Some really great managers and some terrible ones.

    Cons

Scheduling is awful, no promotions based on talent only based on "exposure" with upper management. Managers do not help develop you only talk about helping you grow within the company. If you're looking to move up into corporate you are automatically not considered because you're part of a union. Rules are consistently twisted to avoid any argument from reps within the store. Just in my experience I've seen at least a dozen talented people walk away from the company because of the management promoting friends rather then people who are good at their job. It seems great in the beginning but after about 6 months - 1 year it all goes down hill.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop promoting based on "exposure" and promote based on talent. Stop promoting your drinking buddies.
