Great company to work for

Retail Sales Consultant (Current Employee)
Chicago, IL

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 3 years

ProsPay, benefits, and coworkers are great. Schedules are pretty flexible.

ConsRetail sales setting is not for everyone and it can be challenging and sometimes stressful, as most sales positions are.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Good company, but too much drama

Retail Sales Consultant (Former Employee)
Marietta, GA

I worked at AT&T part-time for less than a year

ProsGood pay for part time work if you are a good sales person and can push the products that are important at the time

ConsToo much drama, always lessening the comps, trying to screw you out of as much money as possible.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't treat your sales people bad because they are your front line. Don't keep changing the comps to pay them less. Promote based on merit and not nepotism.

Shark Tank

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at AT&T full-time for more than a year

ProsPros depend on whether you enjoy working in a hostel backstabbing work environment.

ConsHostel backstabbing work environment.. As a consumer, the AT&T customer culture prevents me from ever, ever, ever doing business with them. Working for AT&T is the next worst possible experience.

Decent place to work but they have some issues.

Assistant Store Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than 5 years

ProsAT&T is a large company and they have good benefits.

ConsWorking in a retail store they have a survey system that is completely unfair. If you switch a SIM card they send a survey out asking the customer if they would be willing to recommend AT&T. If the response is anything other than a 9 or a 10 you get punished even though the question is about AT&T. The company doesn't actually fix the problems, ie wired side is a joke and the retail store gets punished for the horrible way the land line portion of the company operates.

Advice to Senior ManagementFix the wired side of AT&T and don't hold your sales reps accountable for the failings of your company. I have lost a lot of sleep because of this unfair survey system.

Poor Management/Poor Work Environment

Associate Client Support Specialist (Current Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I have been working at AT&T full-time for more than a year

ProsGreat benefits for phone, cable, 401k.
Large, stable company
However, not much more....

ConsManagement is very poor. Managers rarely show up and they don't address problems within the workplace.
Work environment is terrible, the people in the office I'm at are unprofessional, immature, rude, and lazy. Clearly upper management did a poor job in the hiring process. Salary is not good and they limit your opportunities of advancement to next to nothing.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire managers with better leadership qualities and who actually know how to manage people.
Better promote the advancement of employees.

at&t is good for a minute, then it only gets worse

Retail Sales Consultant (Current Employee)
Pasadena, CA

I have been working at AT&T part-time for more than 3 years

Prosperks for sure: you get a decent pay... i started at 12.75 and left the company at 16.00 plus commission.
you get a company phone usually the latest device but there are restrictions
you around technology and thats always fun
and its union.. but thats a joke sometimes too..

ConsTHIS is a SUPER sales job!
TONS of stress, managers always yelling at you
and always something new as your sales goal so you never get strong at anything in particular because it is always shifting.
oh an your commission plan is always getting twisted and you keep earning less money.

Advice to Senior Managementlisten to your employees and actually treat us like human beings, not sales machines...

Miserable Place to Work

Web Developer (Former Employee)
Atlanta, GA

I worked at AT&T as a contractor for less than a year

ProsHad a nice desk with a nice view

ConsComplete, utter cluster. In my 26-year career, I have never seen such poor planning, (dis)organization, and lack of proper project management. Worked for BellSouth in the past and it was a much better, productive environment. Since AT&T took over, they treat people like they're ants in a farm. They don't even provide coffee or filtered water in the break rooms.

Advice to Senior ManagementYour employees are your company. Treat them as such. Just because you have a big name doesn't make your a great company. Good luck competing against Comcast, Cox Communications, Charter, etc.
