I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Lots of growth potential for those with interest and aptitude in technology. Many opportunities for engagement with internal employee groups. Prides on giving back to community. Salary and benefits are reasonable. Increased focus in recent years on providing exceptional customer service (improving in this area, not perfect yet). Most people value work-life balance. Overall, a very good company that is seeking to become a great company.

    Cons

Opportunities for growth are predominantly in Dallas, TX.

    Pros

Great place to have on your resume, respected company, lots of leaders make themselves visible, great insurance/401k benefits, upward mobility if you're willing to move.

    Cons

Large legacy company, change is harder to start from the bottom, you're a number, slow to advance if you don't want to move, financial advancement typically requires exiting the company and returning; they are reluctant to give raises over a %, It's a good company overall, just know you're not going to be working for a startup (e.g.culture). Hierarchy is aplenty.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Define career paths that *could* be available and find a way to move people around/out of legacy positions.

    6% match for 401K
Full benefits for myself; a portion must be paid for family members
    Excellent PTO/vacation

    Cons

Some managers had a tendency to micromanage
union job so some people could get away with not being an exemplary employee

Grateful for the opportunity, but unless you do a lot of butt kissing. You're not going to move up within the company.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits, that's basically it. But they're starting to cut that too.. Corporate greed at its finest.

    Cons

Mind numbing work, day in and day out.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't be so out of touch. Learn and know the job.

I worked at AT&T full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefits, decent employee discounts on service for the sales reps (fantastic discounts for managers).
Good commission if you can manage to hit metrics.

    Cons

Lots and lots of in store drama. Young managers are clique, and insecure. Constantly changing commission structure means that as soon as employees start hitting their numbers, new hurdles are added. Management used security cameras to review transactions and write up employees for stupid things like "not shaking hands".

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to care about your employees, create sales metrics that are fair and that keep employees from having to do shady things to hit their numbers.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I enjoy the pay. Where else can you work at a call center and make 85k a year. Secondly the benefits AT&T provides.

    Cons

Everything except for pay and benefits. Work atmosphere is horrible they squeeze productivity out of you to the point where it feels like torture. Management treats you like a child. You get balloons for selling packages and they always talk about the bad you did, rather than the good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat employees as adults. Don't advertise as a customer service job when in fact it's strictly sales first customer second.
