    Pros

There are so many pros... I will share one aspect of it. This is a 3-year semi-structured program. It's basically a very long internship with regular job pay. Based on my pivot table analysis of all the folks in this program (about 490 as of today), about 75% hold engineering degrees, 11% have masters, and about 5%-10% in Comp. Sci. The rest are mixed between Math, Physics, and Info Sys Management type degrees (which I have). So I got lucky in getting in. Ok, you get assigned a job for 18-24 months then get reassigned to another job. After your 3 years, you can stay in your current job or search for another opportunity at AT&T. It's basically designed to help you find "your career". This setup is excellent for me, since I am in the developing skills and looking for the right job mode. This program should enable me to develop my skills according to my career goals, then settle into the right job. This job reminds me of being in the military a bit. Has job structure (a type of job security) and allows mobility of trying out different roles within the organization... I love it.

    Cons

In comparison to most other jobs out there, I can't think of the cons.

    Advice to Management

Thank you. But... please don't be too harsh on the retail sales reps at core stores... They are the ones at the front lines selling AT&T products. I used to be one a while back, and I know how difficult it is to sell.

  7. AT&T can be an awesome place providing immediate management has the EQ to foster an environment conducive to creativity.

    Pros

Potential for growth is there if you take advantage of educational/training resources.
    Decent benefits.
    Average pay.

    Cons

As with any company you have to be adept at maneuvering politics.
    Nepotism is rampant.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in middle management development. People leave managers; not companies.

    Pros

Work-life flexibility, excellent team collaboration across business units, good overall benefits, work from home options.

    Cons

Silo'd work environment makes out of group career possibilities limited. Entrenched management team limits the chances for promotion. Contingency planning for union based employees

    Advice to Management

Cross business work opportunities need to be encouraged. Highly skilled employees should not have to cover for union based employees who threaten strike action.
