I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The job has a tremendous potential for advancement if you are an exceptional networker and saleperson. The commission structure is very generous if you are able to reach the sometime lofty goals

    Cons

For a communications company there is sometimes a lack of effective communication from upper management. The priorities are ever changing and sometimes the results you need are not in the best interest of the customer.

never know when a part is unavailable or late to be delivered and leaves the driver and his supervisor without a vehicle to do business in.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

position was outsourced and what a paradox to get computer support from India

    I worked at AT&T full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Near recession proof (everyone needs/wants a wireless phone or device). AT&T is a bargained employer and if you are non-management you should join the union. Great overall team environment despite management who's been around for a while and are out of touch with reality other than the numbers and the proverbial scrupulous expectations that role downhill from upper management. Finally able to wear a more relaxed attire. You don't have to purchase shirts or sweaters - an allotment is provided.

    Cons

Working with micromanaging bosses who have no clue about leadership (that is to say - being out front). Theft is on the rise in retail (be careful your location). Fraudsters have increased as it makes it very very hard to make a decent commission check anymore considering the amount of time spent with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get a badge scanning system for clocking into your retail stores - WATCH WHAT HAPPENS WITH ATTENDANCE!

I have been working at AT&T (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Decent pay without degree.
    Guaranteed 40 hours

    Cons

Company does not care about personal life.
    Hours are terrible
    Commission is horrible
    Micromanagement
Pushing products no one wants like their security system
    Hours are long
    Company is all about numbers
If your numbers aren't super amazing you wnot get a promotion

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start caring about your employees more.
Stop trying to have us force products down customers throats that they clearly don't want.
Don't base promotions on numbers, just because you sell doesn't mean you would be a good leader.

I have been working at AT&T full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

AT&T is a stable company that has a very formal culture. Pace is fast but you can choose to work a reasonable number of hours. They compensate with satisfactory pay and added potential bonus which is small but better than nothing.

    Cons

Leadership is benefits are worse than average. There is not a lot of growth opportunity unless you live in Atlanta, Georgia or Dallas, Texas (headquarters).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on leadership and growth for people. Stop cutting insignificant costs such as no water cooler that reduces employee moral.

    I worked at AT&T

    Pros

I worked in Retail Sales and the pro's would be getting to play with all the new technology, money, and being a part of a union.

    Cons

The higher say that they care about a work life balance but they do not. They only care what you can do for them and what makes them money. It is a highly stressful job with a ton of micromanaging.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop micromanaging!! And role playing!!
