I worked at AT&T as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The start-up nature allowed professionals sufficient latitude to contribute significantly to the development & growth of the company using their unique skill-sets & experience.

    Cons

The business model was way ahead of its time, which substantively hampered business development initiatives, & consequently failed to resonate with decision-makers in the target market. The uncertainties engendered by Obamacare further presented insurmountable obstacles to the company's strategic objectives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revise business model to reflect radical changes in the health-care industry & markets, while awaiting more stability, & less ambiguity, as the markets/industry adjust to the implementation of the ACA.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Salary, Bonuses, Healthcare (above industry average though shrinking every year), Paid Time Off

    Cons

Constantly chasing other wireless carrier's offers, hence costs are being cut and they're seriously cutting alot of management jobs.

The company was built on the strength of it's employees.

I have been working at AT&T

    Pros

Competitive salary and benefits, good people to work with. Some room for career growth/opportunity, depending on organization. Offers good/valuable experience in working for a large company.

    Cons

Difficult to get promoted due to almost constant hiring freezes, company values have not caught up with the times. Work-life balance can be hard to achieve as organizations shrink, but workload stays same or grows, leaving people who remain with increasingly heavy workloads.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your top-performers more, reward them, keep them. Try to evolve company culture to be less traditional, more open-minded and flexible. Consider the fact that you are a telecommunications company, selling the ability to work 'anywhere, anytime' to other business, but don't value that practice as part of the company culture.
