I have been working at ATB Financial

    Pros

Nice enough staff. Okay place to focus. Not so busy. It was a non branch though, so that's expecte.

    Cons

    Not a great structure.
Poor communication between the manager and summer students.
No real means of asking for clarification.
My belief is that the direction and goals of management are not known to other levels. It's a bank.
Not my type of work. I'm an innovator. So this review may not apply to your exp.

    I worked at ATB Financial

    Pros

Good Culture and Senior Leadership. Alberta focus is nice and the company is committed to doing what is right for the customer.

    Cons

Not great at career development or work life balance. I had to leave to continue growing as a professional, once I did I realized that ATB really wasn't giving me opportunities to grow. I didn't know what I didn't know.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Constant change is tough on employees. After the CORE fiasco not enough was done to help the term recharge.

I have been working at ATB Financial

    Pros

I am inspired to do my best at ATB everyday. I enjoy the people I work with and enjoy sharing the passion to deliver great service to Albertans. The benefits and the new pension plan are phenomenal. I am clear on what I need to do to succeed. Work life balance is great and I feel I am trusted.

    Cons

Favouritism can be a challenge and I sometimes get discouraged by the People & Culture SLT's apparent inability to deal with team members who aren't onside with change and who can think bigger. Some of the members of the team just don't get it and nothing is done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep striving towards higher gear. Recent results have been fantastic. Don't be afraid to make hard decisions.

I worked at ATB Financial full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Excellent working conditions, benefits and salary. A small regional bank where you are not a number and where your opinion is often asked for and is appreciated.

    Cons

Although a small regional bank it is trying to become a big bank. The appeal of having worked for ATB is that it was different from the other banks. It had a cool vibe that wasn't so corporate, while still meeting annual goals and making a profit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be careful not to lose ATB's identity. It was created to help the people of Alberta. Maintain the spirit it was built upon.

I have been working at ATB Financial

    Pros

    - ATB has a good reputation.

    Cons

    - Poor and ineffective training. I've been there for 5.5 months and still have no idea how to use SAP.
    - The systems they use are archaic and overly complicated, and when you throw in the poor training, it's a recipe for having employees who have no clue what they are doing.
    - Pay is terrible. The McDonalds by my house literally pays more.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    - Improve training.
    - Improve your systems.
    - PAY BETTER. I could make more money in fast food!
