They were really flexible and understood whenever I needed time off

    Cons

Started as a small company but since being bought by Ingram Micro, cutbacks are made it scarier to work there

    Pros

Access to multiple technologies & talented people. They are a large company, so can provide for trainings, etc. to aid thier employees.

    Cons

Dying market scrambling to find new products to push on overstressed dealers & thier clients. They are A pretty massive company that is owned by one of the largest companies in the world. At the end of the day, as an employee, you are just a number filling a chair

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Accept the limits of your market don't push dealers into markets/ technologies they can't propperly use-- you're only hurting your own customers.

    Pros

Decent pay with great benefits, good group of people for the most part, meaning well and trying hard but falling far short of their goals

    Cons

Most frustrating Software system in the world that does not lend itself to the Point of Sale system that is their core business (making a customer wait for 1/2 hr for a $50 part is bad business! a daily occurrence!!!!) An ever changing sales strategy and a churning of employees second to none. could not recommend this Company

I have been working at AVAD

    Pros

You get exposure to a great number of products, so if you're open to doing some learning on your own, the comapny can be a good place to get some experience.

    Cons

None of the people in upper management know what they are doing. After Bob Gartland left , the people running the show have no clue who their customers are. The branches are WAY understaffed. The POS system is a major problem: it's been that way for THREE years and management refuses to admit it's been a major mistake. They also have a new phone system that is far less usefull than the system it replaced. Finally, the website is pretty useless, the competition is far superior in this aspect of buisiness, including AVAD's sister company, DBL.

The company pays lip service to training employees and clients, and never actually manages to do a good job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They need to figure out what buisness they are actually in. They fail to understand that their customers have to sell the products they purchase to end users. They roll out promotion after promotion that most of their clients ignore.

    Unprofessional and Dishonest

I worked at AVAD full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Casual work environment. Compensation is market value.

    Cons

Incredibly dishonest company. Management severely lacking in personal integrity. Many promises made during
the hiring process that will not be kept once hired. The office has less than 20 people and has a high
school clique dynamic. Vice President / General Manager Jim Annes, who runs AVAD, should be relieved of his duties along with his direct reports who have fostered a very hostile work environment.

Management is very territorial and thin-skinned. Ongoing turf wars between departments make it nearly impossible
to accomplish goals. Managers are more interested in asserting their authority than achieving results. Those who attempt to address the problems or provide solutions will be blackballed and punished.

If you really need the money, accept the job, but have a six month exit strategy. This place will drain you mentally
and spiritually. Money is only a temporary motivator. Eventually, you want to work where you are respected and in turn
respect the people with whom you work. This is not that place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pointless. They would not take it if offered.

I worked at AVAD full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun Industry and there are good product lines. Counter staff can make a decent living, but don't expect rapid advancement.

    Cons

Upper management is clueless and arrogant. AVAD doesn't promote from within. The company has done nothing but go downhill since Ingram Micro purchased it. High turnover in management ranks means you're either working for hatchet men or people inexperienced with handling people.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find someone who knows what they are doing and move on to something else. Promotion from with in would be nice.

    Negative Outlook
