  1. AVI is a great family oriented company, but it has some work to do.

I have been working at AVI Foodsystems Inc. full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My favorite part of this job is I rarely work weekends and I'm first shift so I'm always home at night. It's hard to find that in the food industry.

    Cons

It's hard working here sometimes because many people who work for the company either love food service or it is just a job for them. As a result you have mixed standards and expectations.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to your word. Stop hiding things. Everything doesn't have to be a big secret. 99% of the time everyone already has it figured out. Honesty and trust are very important attributes for an employee/boss relationship.

I worked at AVI Foodsystems Inc. part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I was in union shop so they had to give me benefits. Not too many weekends worked.

    Cons

Didn't even have a manager on our shift. General motors employees talked to us like garbage. Even swore at me and grabbed me in inappropriate places and when I finally told gm union and avi upper management made a plan to get rid of me. No one listens to management they may as well not be there. Lots of mice and cockroaches in our location. No communication. District manager are clueless to daily operations. They only care about their accounts when they are in trouble. All management is sneaky and no one can be trusted there. Employees who are usually women are caddy and immature.

    Advice to Management

Get your heads out of your tuckus. Listen to your employees more seeing as they are the ones who deal with horrible customers not you. Do they allow, literally allow them to be touched in an unwelcome gesture and then get rid of them like they are the problem. Stop drug testing, honestly anyone who can pass a drug test is too good for your company.

    Cons

See above reasons. The only good thing I can think of is it was close to home, regular hours, my own office.....

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Weekends off, Promoted within rapidly, competitive wages, fantastic human resources department, family owned

    Cons

The expectations were higher than the amount of resources provided at times to execute processes, the company policies seemed to be modified frequently based on the people, outdated methods of financial tracking, outdated methods of operations on several levels, company failed on so many levels to follow their own ethics let alone the general business world of ethics, this company does not follow their own core values consistently
