Pros
Overall a decent place to work. Has been hit by the economy just like every other industry out there. Would recommend it.
Cons
No pay raises in a few years. Not much room for advancement. Twenty word minimum is hard to complete right.
Advice to Senior Management
Improve employee benefits, treat employees like assets not liabilities. Offer pay raises and bonuses. twenty word minimum twenty workd minimum.
Pros
Very friendly at first. Plenty of work. Training was good when available. Clients ok.
Cons
Low pay. Too many subs. Cut benefits. Small niche that share drugs. Everyone else is dirt. Broken promises. Lots of blaming techs for bad project management.
Advice to Senior Management
Mandatory Random Drug Testing from corporate office to everyone at branch locations. Better project management. Only permanent employees.
Pros
I did enjoy the fact that the department in which I worked was small enough to be able to know everyone that worked there, including their strengths and weaknesses.
Cons
The pay was extremely poor, and there was talk of the bosses wanting to pay no more than minimum wage, for web development positions.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay your employees enough so that they can at least tolerate their job. And don't demand mandatory overtime instead of hiring competent employees.
Pros
work on your own as if you are running your own store. Management is not breathin down your neck. I like a job well done. It can be accomplished if you kiss the right butts. (Not my style) The dining people are awesome. We have fun, cause we are all in the same boat. If we were truly appreciated for all our hard work...we would be compensated. But we go through the motions in hope that one day... it will be within avi's budget to compensate us accordingly.
Cons
communication seems to be an annoyance. This should be a positve thing. The more you do...the more the company expects.Heck I was promised a gas card for a reference and they claim it wasnt on the paperwork.I was told I could be a superviser once the building took off.I even worked in another department for less money than what they were starting new hires at. I am not stupid. So I will just do what I can to make things better. I keep my chin up and hope to be recognized for my hard work and dedication. LOL
Advice to Senior Management
If management would listen to attendants instead of saying they are angry all the time. They might benefit from listening to some resolutions. Who would know better than the people who work there first hand????Stop sending NASTY memos like we are stupid people. It only brings us down. If the people in the office would do their job, ours might be a little easier. Better yet, If the owner would have a one on one with us now and then, he may benefit from us little people as well.
Sincerely
Pros
Solid company, stable employment and financial position
Cons
little room for advancement, compensation could be more dependable
Advice to Senior Management
open up training and advancement
Pros
got great experience from them, not afraid to give praise. the work I did really impacted the company and I was recognized for it
Cons
Not very clear on what advancement opportunities there are available for everyone. Also had some managers who didn't always know what was going on
Advice to Senior Management
They are all great people and keep up what your doing. I guess the only thing would be to make sure you have time to think through everything
Pros
Large size gives employees some good resources to work with. Training oportunities have been reletively good (last year is an understandable exception).
Cons
Customers have not really bennifited from the two companies merging. Prices are industry standard, oredering is still inefficient. Bennifits for employees are almost worthless.
Advice to Senior Management
You need to be competing with B&H, and still providing superior custom solutions (when needed). Customers who need a quote for a projector bulb have a 2 to 3 day wait ahead of them. Retirement packages for employees is a must! We are coming out of a recession and you will see top talent leave.
Pros
some nice professional colleagues
good central location
Cons
little to no training provided - you just have to hit the street running and hope you catch on quick!
lots of politics - you're doomed if the right people don't like you
pay was straight commission (no base) which makes it difficult to pay your bills during slow economic times - also benefits weren't very good, you got 1 wk of vacation after 1 year working there, seemed a little stingy to me
Advice to Senior Management
provide better training & coaching to new sls reps (especially if they don't have a lot of industry experience) so they know from the start the right way and the wrong way to do things and don't have to guess how to do their jobs
pay sls reps a base plus commission, as opposed to straight commission so they can still pay their bills during slow times
improving benefits will bring you better more qualified job candidates - also outside salesppl who are pd straight commission should be allowed to work from home rather than reporting to the office every am and pm (lay off on the micro mgmt and trust your ppl to do the right things)
Pros
Largest resources in the industry. Financially solid. They spend a great deal of resources in recognition of sales people. Vast availability of products and excellent buying power.
Cons
Very corporate. Difficult to make a difference. Corporate in Tampa may have made visits to the field office, but the interaction was very limited. It was more telling and less interacting with discussion. While they had good procedures for the most part, there wasn't a real system to make improvements. Not enough ways to share information from various offices. Things like a company blog site or forum were ruled out, hence no real social networking.
Advice to Senior Management
Spend more time asking questions and learning about employees.
Pros
Private ownership, rapid growth, Good business model, Little oversight
Cons
Poor communication. The feeling that the system integration side is the only division that's important to upper management. We are loosing hospitality contracts left and right.
Advice to Senior Management
Stop messing with my benifits and compensation package. Make a defined move to boost hotel and rental AV operations.
